Hi folks, I’m an inexperienced trader and have found myself stumped at USD sky rocketing in all major pairs today, just a couple of hours ago. I was in what appeared to be a good trade and would love to get to the bottom of why this happened; so I know how (If) I might have been able to avoid taking a trade at this time. I can’t find any news release that may have caused it and all of my price action analysis looked fine. Any info welcome!
Markets do this a lot. Do not expect to be able to find a reason for every sudden market move, you will drive yourself mad. Journalists will find a reason, but always afterwards.
They see a market move, then start looking for reasons why, they will always find something eventually. As a trader you have to be smarter than that. Risk control is the most important thing, so when the market does suddenly move against you, it doesn’t do a lot of damage. Good luck with your trading.
I practice good risk management, but I see no reason not to try and learn from a failed trade too. I’ll take your advice though, thanks mate.
I always check on Twitter and on Forexlive.com when some push occurs on the market.
@ginseng where did you check?
Thanks @Hefoba, I normally only use Babypips economic calendar but forexlive is looking great - I’ll have to start making use of that!
This is good for known news not for unplanned moves

This unpredictability is what gives us profits
Review the economic calendar every day and try not to miss out even on the minor news.
Such things will keep happening. But I don’t think that you need to pay attention to all of them all the time.
You won’t always get an update for the market change so try to focus on your risk management strategy. These things keep happening so don’t worry you will learn soon.
