Using the CCI divergence for forecasting

Hello everyone,

through being part of the Society of Technical Analysts I published an article on their journal in late 2023.

Having been away from this site for a while, I did not think of posting it here, also being careful as initially the material was for STA members only; now that it is public, I am pleased to share it with you.

It is on pages 22 to 29:

Hi PipMe

Very well written and informative article

Every day is a learning day - never realized re cci being ā€˜unboundā€™ unlike others such as rsi

Many thanks for sharing.

Hey Peterma, how are you? Can you believe that it has been over a year since NotTheNoobs shut down? Hope that life is good with you.

The article was a lot of work (a lot of number-crunching by hand) but I also got to present it at an STA meeting. I was amazed at some of the CCI potential, though it should be used in combination and never alone, even for purely contrarian positioning. The fact that it is unbound means that extremes are even more obvious, in a way.

Thanks for dropping by to commentā€¦I always enjoyed your analyses, on indices as much as EUR/GBP.

Talk soon

Actually, no! I hadnā€™t realised that - time has passed so very quickly. Everything seems so very transient nowadays!

Aye all ok - some ups & downs like us all I suppose.

I never got round to retiring though the big 70 beckons.

I can see that there was a lot of work put into that article, the concept of divergence is important more maybe because it can hint at market turns.

Pity about the noob site, I enjoyed the craic as they say here.

Take care.

Thanks SovoSā€¦ It has been a while. How are things? I will write again, if I have something to contribute (nobody wants me rambling on).

Thanks Peterma. Yes, the craic was good when the numbers on NTN were upā€¦ We had Kaitsu aka Manxx, your good self, Eddie and, for some time, TurboNero. Some people from here came over to NTN and said hello, but I cannot remember names anymore. It takes a lot of work, much more work than one can imagine, to keep a small forum aliveā€¦

Seventy? Did you say sevā€¦ My goodness, I had not idea. Your words are always imbued with youthful optimism. And who said that retiring was all that? I am not actually sure if that will happen for me either, being a musician and all. Family and work can be great boosts in later years, provided, of course, that we like them at least a bit

It is crazy that you, Eddie, Manxx and I never met. . . These are the wonders of remote communication. There used to be pen friends and then they became Facebook friendsā€¦ Same story, different means. I get the feeling that every technology is just respelling the same human needs rather than actually redefining them entirely.

Thanks for being such a wonderful human being and reminding me that being on a forum does not have to turn anyone into a bully (and so many forget this concept once they log on).

Take care

Oh it IS youā€¦ I wonderedā€¦

I just went to check my e-mails (off site) and it looks like I have not written to you since last summerā€¦ woopsā€¦

Well, how fortuitous to find you here, then!

I was not expecting us both to be here againā€¦ and yetā€¦

Yep, older - but no wiser!

Good to see you back here, too. Looking forward to hearing more about what you have been up to in the meantime :+1:
