Im learning a system involving VSA so im using volume as main indicator. I have a demo acc with Alpari UK, MT4 platform. My father has real acc with Alpari UK, micro acc, MT4 platform.
So, Im looking today on 5 min chart, biggest Volume was “692” on my charts. On my fathers charts it shows “662” for the same candle on same timeframe.
Can someone explain why there are different values?
On MT4, the volume indicator is nothing more than the tick volume. It’s the amount of times the price changes in a given period. Not volume of units traded.
it happens all the time in all brokers … just to fool you on demo … and suck your money on live … also maybe … i think slippage does not happen on demo …
That did not address the concerns of the OP. He never said he didn’t understand what the volume indicator was for, he wanted to know why there was a difference between the tick volumes displayed on demo v. live.
You may be on a different server or data feed depending on demo vs live trading. So this could cause discrepencies in tick changes creating problems in your indicator. Or if you are comparing different platforms the way they capture price could also affect it. This is all assuming you are using a demo vs live of the same broker, different broker will give you different results.
