want to start journaling my trades. Can you help me with that؟

“Hello and best wishes to you all.
I would like to know about your methods of trade journaling.
Currently, I’m using a traditional journaling method, but I’m looking for new ideas or ways to improve my process.
Thank you for your support, and I wish you all the best.”

Welcome to the community!!

When it comes to my journaling, I write down everything…feelings, weather, sleep quality, etc…in addition to actual trades and results. My online journal (Open Season) focuses on the trades mostly, but I use the online journal for personal accountability.

Hi! I’ve found spreadsheet journaling (Google Sheets or Excel) super helpful! easy to track setups, reasons for entry/exit, emotions, and even screenshots.

Why is that, Thomas? What problems are you having with “traditional” journaling?

Premium members get a deal with TradeZella, an online journal app. It’s paid though.

I’m just using free myfxbook, but I’m seeing the TradeZella being used by some traders I watch on YouTube. Might check it out.

Journaling is one of the best habits a trader can build. A few ways to make it more effective:

  1. Record key details for every trade: pair, direction, entry, stop, target, position size, and reason for entry.
  2. Add screenshots before entry and after exit. Seeing the chart helps you spot patterns over time.
  3. Note your emotions. Fear, hesitation, or overconfidence often influence results as much as the setup itself.
  4. Review weekly or monthly. Look for recurring mistakes and also setups that consistently work.
  5. Use spreadsheets or apps if you want automation, but even a notebook works if you are consistent.

The goal is not just to log trades, but to learn from them and refine your edge.
