Has anyone heard of any automated trading programs or EAs that use a distinct interface separate from the MetaTrader terminal? Do you think there are any advantages to having one?

If your broker offers API you can create something yourself. There’s other trading platforms available but most retail FX brokers don’t have much selection besides MT4.

Some platforms that are more available to retail traders are MultiCharts, TradeStation, AmiBroker, NinjaTrader as well as proprietary platforms designed by brokers. You’ll have to check what your broker has to offer as well as any requirements they may have to gain access.

I was thinking more about about an interface solely to be used with an automated trading strategies. It would provide an easy way to run and test automated trading programs without having to deal with MT or other standard platforms. It would be able to link to your account with any broker and would provide a much simpler and less complicated way to run automated trading programs.

I am envisioning something that’s easy to use and doesn’t involve coding or going through the steps of installing anything on MT. Does this sound like something people would want?

Are you looking to design something like that yourself or finding something like that to use?

Unless you are looking to design something similar to your specifications yourself, you won’t find much resources online like that. There are automated traders that have developed customized software whether web-based or downloadable; most of them are kept private though.

It just sounds like daydreaming to me. If you’re looking to get into automated trading I really hope that you have sufficient programming experience and do not need to rely on graphical builders.

I am sorry, I should have made my question more clear. I have a automated trading program that is written in Java that does not work within the confines of the mql4 language.

I am looking to build an interface and was hoping to get the feedback of real traders in terms of what they would want in a web-based interface.

I would take a look at some automated trading platforms available and see what features it offers. At the end of the day, it’s all about what you need.
