I am new here (it is not hard to see that just by reading the title of the thread).
If I study all the things that I need to know to have good understanding of the signals I will probably need to wait few years before I made my first investment…
So I decided to ask help here. What web pages do you use to get summed info.
What I am searching is something like fxgenie -> livesignals
(I could not post link, I need 5 posts before that privilege)
A very summed info that says buy/sell (maybe ‘strong buy/sell’)
What is your experience on the long term investments ?
What sources do you use, what pages do you visit.
I know I open very broad topic, but noobies must start somewhere.
Please share with me if you have some good source that you find accurate over the years about buy/sell long term.
I would be very careful if anyone replies and says buy this pair or that pair as it will be up in 5 years time - it seems to me there is no way to do that with confidence.
In any case, most of us are here as short-term traders, with trades lasting minutes, hours or days, so where the price will be in 5 years is of no relevance - we believe we can do better than that.
The best any of us can do as traders is to follow the trend and the best looking long term trend we have right now is GBPUSD, down 5,000 pips over the last 3 years, some “experts” say it is going to 1.000 so going short after this current counter trend rally ends is something to consider.
But trading currencies as a long term investment may not be the best use of your capital, for buy and hold for several years I would be looking at a Amazon, Tesla, Facebook, Google , these are all likely to be worth a lot more in the future. Another buy and hold would be Bitcoin,
The problem with currencies is they can be pushed up and down by central bank action, which makes them poor buy and hold investments
I know that there is strict terminology in trading world. And I am not sure what is the time period of ‘long term’ (I guess more than half year).
I put the question like ‘long term investment’ because I am interested in keeping my money in some currency (instead of keeping everything into USD).
I a not some raider (you can figure that with no effort), I have regular job etc… But I want to make few extra dollars (if possible) with few conversions in every few years. In a sense I have 10 000 $, so I can keep them in USD and for 3 years I can have 10 000 $, or I can buy AUD and after some time I can sell the AUD back to USD and have 10 500 $.
I know the risk that I also might lose some money. But these 10 000 USD is money I will probably won’t need and will stay at bank for the next few years, so making 500-1000 out of thin air won’t do any harm.
