What if you had a system that would be a winner when the market rises and when the market falls ?
Would that be close enough to The Holy Grail ?

What makes you think its harder to make money when the market is going down? That is a strange idea to an experienced trader.
But I am willing to concede that it is no easier.
There is no holy grail.
Regardless, every trader is going to have losing trades every now and then - they are lying if they say otherwise.
Therefore I don’t think such a system would exist.
I don’t think it is harder…I think it is the same…what it boils down to is a 50-50 chance no matter what.
I would agree there would be no perfect system but I think one that comes close to it would be good enough
