What is Metatrader?

I have a trading platform that I use to trade a live account as well as using a demo account. I subscribed to MT4pips, so that I could keep a record of my trades. It appears that I need to have metatrader to do so. I also notice that MT4 is mentioned quite often?? - could someone enlighten me!!

Yes Metatrader is just another platform. MT4 is short for MetaTrader (version) 4. Now there is MT5…the newest version. :slight_smile:

I already have a platform that I’m using, so it seems unecessary to have another one or is it worth downloading to check it out?

If you want to use MT4pips to track your trades, then you need MT4 or 5. Otherwise, you can download it to check it out if you want to. You can’t use it with all brokers either and unless yours does, there’s not much point unless you want to change brokers on your live account if the one you use doesn’t offer it and you decide you like it soo much you need to switch over.
