What made you realize forex is for you?

I’m a newbie still trying to understand forex and I just want to know, was there a sign that made you realize forex was for you? When did it hit you that you can do this for a living and what triggered that? Need some inspiration and motivation lol

My passion first of all. I’ve a great interest in trading. I just enjoy it. That is something will lead you to top. But yes, constant profits is also something that works for many. As, it is something everyone is looking at.

first thing the people always think its a money making platform , and they take it as like casino but after passing some time when making losses by own fault , they blame this market place , its very common attitudes.

Hi Sarah.
Welcome to babypips. As a newbie myself, I just enjoy the trading world and the chance to improve my financial situation. But dont get caught up with the notion that you will become a millionaire overnight. As with all things in life… experience takes time. So start with the school of pipsology on baby pips. Do complete the entire course and arm yourself with forex knowledge. I cant stress this enough! Open a demo account and trade. Develope a strategy and stick to it. Keep a trading journal and enter all your trades in it. You will also find a lot of help on this forum. When I first started trading… I was a cowboy! Open a real $1000 account and blew it up in no time. I was reckless and thought I knew how to trade. Damn, was I wrong big time! So now that I paid my school fees… lol… I started the school of pipsology and I am half way through. I opened demo account, devolepd a strategy and trade. So be strong and happy pip hunting

You know what? Haha. Tbh, I can’t help but have doubts sometimes. Is it really for me or am I just wasting my time? I keep asking myself. Haha. But I keep on pushing forward because it makes me happy and fulfilled. Sure, it stresses me out at times, but I still enjoy the time I spend on it. Basically, for me, there wasn’t any sign apart from the fact that it makes me happy. Haha.

When big bank trading tools became available to Joe Public

When did it hit you that you can do this for a living and what triggered that?

Around 2010. But I never had a plan that I wanted to do this for a living. The pursuit was to determine if, by rigorous planning, I could be more like the 1% than like the 99%. I wish to do this as one quarter of a living, because I already had three other pursuits (possible income streams) and I wanted Forex to replace one of them. The one that is based on daily income for fixed effort (contracting)

I became interested when the internet was a fledgling, knew that it would transform the way people made money, looked at numerous online businesses, came across FX started to look at what could be achieved, has taken sometime for me to be comfortable with what I do, and to take the plunge financially.
Now I enjoy the challenge, main priority not to blow the bank, secondly to grow it to sustainable level to draw monies off eventually.

I still don’t know that it’s for me but being that I still have my account open and hasn’t been blown to pieces just yet (and that I have in fact a small profit in there)… maybe there is something here.

I realised forex was for me when I became consistently profitable. It has still not hit me I can do this for a living as I do not want to do it for a living. I use it as a way of becoming financially free. I dont want to trade for the rest of my life, I’d rather enjoy my life not be stuck in front of a screen.

It all depends on what you want from trading because it can give you whatever you’re looking for. A profession, pension, money, challenge, puzzle, competition, community, freedom, time etc etc. Once you know what you want then you can start with that goal in mind. The one motivational thought I had when I was losing money was that anyone can become profitable. So if anyone can do it so can I.

I understood it for myself when the number of my winning deals became higher than the number of losses. The feeling of winning strikes made me very happy, and it increased my desire to trade further. Maybe there is even a bit of excitement in it, but at the same time, you realize that everything depends on you, not on luck.

I’m a newbie too. I have always liked spending a few hours a day in front of the computer and if I can make a small living out of doing something where I depend on myself and nobody else then that is perfect. Also love the fact that I can do this from anywhere in the world. I am hoping that I can become good enough to be able to do this a couple of hours each day and make something small to keep me going.

Whatsup. Thanks for sharing. beside the initial win streak, I knew before I transitioned to my real account that this is precisely what I wanted to do for money. Its hard work being a full-time trader but I get a kick out of identifying trade opportunities off a bunch of charts that is a bunch of gibberish to normal non-trading humans

I was referring to times (1980s) when a terminal to a trading application run on a mainframe may cost in the region of $10,000 to $100,000 per seat. Over the decades, the features and benefits of those global trading applications have come within the reach of mere mortals (you and me) for no cost or almost no cost.

As the cost of entry to trading has fallen, opportunity has expanded greatly.
