When does forex liquidity come to norms after december and january holidays

The liquidity in december and january are thin and the volatility is terrible . i stopped trading on 20th of December . When should i resume trading in good liquidity and volatility. i don’t want random movements and markets that are easily manipulated.

My pro friend closed down on 19th December, and he said he’ll start either the first or more likely the second week in January, depending on the volatility.

Tommor had said last year that you should zoom out from your chart and see if you can find the month of December. If you can’t, then perhaps the month of December isn’t such a big deal.

I don’t know who else would agree with that, but it makes sense to me…at least on D1. Do what’s best for you. If you want to know what markets usually do at a certain time of year, just scroll back your chart to previous years. Screen shot the December/January of the last three years, compare them and see when favorable conditions return.

Have you tried that already?

am gonna try this thx

This year many D1 charts are showing frequent narrow range daily bars, many of them being inside bars, with reduced ATR’s. ATR’s are also often low despite a large number of outside bars: many of the OB’s are not very wide but they are being generated by the very narrow IB’s. Watch out for the IB’s to become less frequent and for ATR to start uptrending. ATR usually increases as price starts to emerge from consolidation into a trend, and trends mean opportunity.
