Where is the track-record of Forex teachers, coaches, mentors?

Why don’t they show the results of their actual trading ? :27:

If you have anyone in mind, you could write to them and ask to see that…I am sure they could show you , unless they had something to hide… Think this: if you were on a shopkeepers’ forum would you post your shop accounting/bookkeping records to all and sundry? No, it’s for your, your accountant’s, and the tax office’s eyes only…

Similarly, a lot of financial traders will not be prepared to share their private info publicly

Yes, there is MyFxBook, but it does not work for all trading and then again it does not always tell the whole story.

I have in mind everyone who is established in this trading education business. I’m not asking to see their personal accounts and stuff. But if you’re on this forum since 2012 advertising your services (like Chris Capre and Johnathon Fox for instance), shouldn’t it be common sense to open a separate account to verify your performance for your potential customers ? I mean, in a business so full of con-men, this would only help your credibility.

You have a point…

One of the possible reasons is that whenever anyone does post great accounts on here they get accused of falsifying it (which isn’t difficult and may be true).
Another is that they are possibly nowhere near as successful as they claim (some, not all).
And another may be that they dont know who is reading this forum and may want to keep their true earnings secret.

My hunch is that your second hypothesis is the real one in virtually all the cases.
1 -> if you really want to verify an account, I think nowadays it can be done for free and beyond any reasonable doubt.
3 -> this isn’t valid as the account’s scope is to show the teacher’s trading capabilities, not his net worth. So it doesn’t have to be in the hundreds of thousands.

Hi MrBurger,

I like the discussion. I think it is a tough topic to find an optimal solution and decide what can be asked and what no from a mentor.

I am interested to see how it all develops!

I wish it was the law that anyone offering educational services has to be profitable first for a period of time.

What’s stopping you from requesting such proofs. I think it is caveat emptor - the responsibility lies on us to check if the vendor is good. I would also add that it is valuable experience.

everyone refuses, try find me someone willing to show a track record
