Hey um Tshegofatso and New in trading Forex, which pair is the best for a beginner to focus on
Low spreads, liquid. EurUsd is a really good place to start, imo.
The pair you understand the best.
Regardless of time-frame, it depends on your strategy. Some strategies need a highly volatile pair to work best, but a pair which is highly volatile can also see dramatic changes in direction, leading trades into excessive risk and losses.
The 6 or 7 “major” currency pairs tend to have the narrowest spreads and lowest margin requirements so these have lower overhead costs to trade.
Beware of many currencies and pairs being highly correlated - they all tend to move in step together.
I started on EUR/USD for the low spreads and deep liquidity, then moved into GBP/USD for variety. My advice: begin with euro-dollar to learn execution, then diversify gradually
Beginners should start with any major pair with the USD as they carry more liquidity and low spreads as compared to the exotic pairs with liquidity risks.
Personally I feel, any pair with USD is the best choice for beginners given its high liquidity and low spreads. Start from small lots and grow gradually.
I agree. EURUSD is a solid choice for beginners.
You will find plenty of replies to the same question which was posted in the correct category here
Start with EUR/USD - stable, liquid, and beginner-friendly. Avoid exotics for now. Happy trading!
Totally agree. It is the a good choice if you are just beginning.
Hey! I think EUR/USD is a good choice to start with.
To everyone saying EUR/USD…you guys are aware there’s a lot of political policies undergoing changes in Europe right now, right?
Not saying it is a bad pair nor is it the “best” for a beginner, just…give full disclosure man.
A good point, and true of the USA also? I’m now wondering whether that make a pair like AUS/NZD, which is certainly less susceptible to news spikes, more suitable?
Most liquid, tightest spreads, most efficient pricing, largest options. There’s always been political discrepancy in the Euro between all countries.
What are you recommending?
Oh wait, I see it…what if I told “understand” any pair so well?
For beginners, EUR/USD is usually the best pair to start with. It’s the most traded currency pair in the world, which means tighter spreads and better liquidity—basically, lower trading costs and smoother price moves. It’s also less volatile compared to some other pairs, making it easier to manage risk. Plus, there’s tons of educational material and analysis available for EUR/USD, so it’s easier to learn how the market works. Once you get comfortable, you can explore other pairs, but starting with EUR/USD helps keep things simple and focused.
Starting with EUR/USD is best—it has tight spreads, clear fundamentals, and decent volatility without chaotic moves. My newbie self cut my teeth here before branching out to majors like GBP/USD
Can’t go wrong with forex majors. Especially eur/usd. usd/jpy and pairs like these. High demand means spreads are tight.
