Why Is There a Delay in My Forex Quotes?

I use FX Solutions as a online broker. The quotes seem very delayed, and do not always match up with what the real time chart says is happening. Attached is a screenshot of the situation in question. I am Selling GBP at 1.4484, and even though the chart says the current value of the GBP is 1.4480, the ‘Close’ price is listed at 1.4489, giving me a loss. Anyone know why this is?

I would check a few things.

  1. Did price move fast at the point of closing, i.e. slippage
  2. Are the charts showing the mid market price, sell price or buy price. This will be different to the price you close at. For example MT4 shows the sell price as the charting price feed, so closing sell trade at what seems like the chart price is actually different by the spread amount.
  3. how quick is your broker, and their server, is this normal activity for your broker, call them up and ask.
  1. The price wasn’t moving quickly, movements were slow and steady.
  2. I’m actually not sure which price the chart was showing. All I know is that it’s on the default settings for FX Solutions and that I haven’t seen something like this before.
  3. The broker normally seems ‘fast enough’.

I emailed FX Solutions with the screenshot and my question. I will post against when I see their resolution.

I have FX solutions and have no problems. As far as charting I use there accucharts. However even looking at your screen shot I do not see a problem. I am assuming you are looking at a bid chart. Reason if you look at the last line of your order section. The price matches exactly the price on that chart. I dont know of another pair that would be at the exact same price at the same time so I assume that last line is the bid/ask price for GPB/CHF.

Thanks, that makes sense.
