Win ratio

If a strategy has win ratio 33% …can one be profitable in the long run applying risk/reward money management as 1: 2 ?

I am trying to find worst case scenario.

No you’d need a risk/reward > 1:3

Thanks Braden, That was helpful.

What is the win ratio of RSI oversold/overbought strategy ? I don’t know how to back-test this strategy and find its win ratio %.

Can you please do a back testing for this strategy and let me know its win ratio % over long run.

Is there any online strategy win ratio finder tool ?

You need to generally purchase a back tester. Do you have fxcm? They have a free backtester. Here’s a good read

Do you have more questions bud?

You can swing trade to achieve a 321 ratio. Understanding what you can afford will help you with your entry. My win ratio is crap.

No. I don’t have FXCM .

If you have FXCM , will it be possible to run a backtesting for this RSI Strategy for say 3 yrs data. I just want to see its win loss ratio.

err …ratio 321 ? what is this ? I guess you made a typo here.

You need a computer. Which I don’t have. Maybe try their demo account?

Thanks for the feedback. Thanks for your time.

321
3:1
Three Two One
Three To One

However your slice it. Your edge is in the ratio not your winning %. That’s what helps us Newbs/Noobs/Newbi’s keep our accounts growing.

Hi Braden,

Thanks for providing this info, but since FXCM introduced free back testing and automation capabilities on Trading Station, we discontinued support for Strategy Trader, since it never developed a large following.

Hi Godzilla,

You will be able to backtest your RSI strategy on Trading Station if it is coded in Lua which is the programming language used on the platform. More information about programming in Lua can be found at FxCodeBase.com

Jason can you put a bug in someone’s ear at fxcm to get some non time based charts on the mobile app? At least P&F and Renko please? You guys have a website that does a good job loading the charts but it would be cool to have it all there in one place…

Hi Godzilla,

I hope you can do the math yourself, a win rate of 33% and a R:R of 1:2 will let you end up break even!!

So you have to raise your win ratio by adapting or changing your trading strategy, or you have to let your trades run longer and by doing so, raising your desired R:R!!

It is all basic mathematics!!! Forex is a number game!!

He’s still looking for his holy grail.

Thanks for this suggestion, Braden

I’ve passed it onto our software development team for the Trading Station Mobile app.

Awesome, thank you Jason! If they want someone to test it out if they get a beta version I’ve got a lot of experience with those charts. Thanks again!

Why anyone would do bissuness with a broker besides fxcm still puzzles me.
