World Politics, Good Or Bad

In ways we could never imagine. They just have to keep us busy and all protests/ground-level political movements will run out of steam. Look at any police brutality protest in recent years. They lose steam, and within two weeks the world will have forgotten about it–like it never happened.

But compare those movements with this whole transgender thing. The liberal agenda. This is definitely orchestrated by some powerful people. Things like this keep society busy and distracted. We’re all arguing with each other about gay this, gay that, transgender this, transgender that.

Somehow this movement is in every developing and developed nation. South America, Europe, Asia. It’s bizarre. It’s all about misdirection and control, in my opinion.

While we’re arguing and blaming each other, the powers that be are increasing control over us, studying us, and/or keeping us distracted from what they don’t want us to know.

Does he have joint custody? He needs joint custody so he and his kids can go to the law if they are being abused unless they already Investigate his claims. It’s his job to prove his kids are being abused and the mother is unfit, He might want to contact the kid’s school to put a word in about the abuse so they can question them.

If he doesn’t have Joint custody and is not allowed to see his kids, There must be more to the story.

This is in Ecuador. I don’t know the law of the land and what’s really going on. :v:

With the limelight they have, they could do so much good if they implemented some conservative agendas. It shouldn’t only be about one party’s agenda or the other, it doesn’t have to be extreme one way or another. some things are just common sense.

For both parties, the same applies

I agree. Even me saying ¨the liberal agenda¨ you can see the results of someone’s social engineering game. When there’s division and bickering, there’s money to be made. People contribute money to either side, but no one says ¨let’s stop fighting and just work together.¨

Try telling a conservative to work cooperatively with a liberal, and he’ll lose his mind. Same thing if you ask that of a liberal. Just imagine what would happen to the major news networks if a politician came along and encouraged everyone to stop fighting, calm down and just work together–and millions of people started doing it! just think about it.

Jordan Peterson blew my mind when he talked about that. He said both sides need to work together to come to solutions. Either extreme is bad. Too liberal and the country goes off the rails. Too conservative and we don’t innovate. We need each other to find mid-ground solutions.

But at the same time, people don’t know what to do with themselves. People are bored. People are attracted to conflict. If you have a news network strictly reporting facts, people will be bored. If you have another network sensationalizing a story, people will watch. Then you realize people do this to themselves and they don’t actually wanna work together.

Next thing you know, you’re turning off the news, abandoning all hope for society, and you just live the best life you can as a spectator.

The lives of all those people were turned upside down on Jan-6 2021 because of this Pathological liar.

Now that we have gotten this out of the way, and if he does get back into the office, hopefully, he doesn’t abuse the Supreme Court immunity decision, but you never know about this guy. I wish both candidates the best, and we’ll watch what happens.

Trump admits he lost in 2020, leading white nationalist Nick Fuentes to disavow him

Former President Donald Trump’s recent acknowledgment that he lost the 2020 election has rattled prominent far-right figures, with some saying they will lead a campaign to keep him from being elected in 2024.

At least three times in recent weeks Trump, the 2024 Republican party nominee, has acknowledged that he lost in 2020 “by a whisker.”

“He beat us by a whisker. It was a terrible thing,” Trump said of President Joe Biden during a 45 minute interview Aug. 4 with podcaster Lex Fridman. He used similar language at an Aug. 30 Moms for Liberty summit and an Aug. 23 press event at the Southern border.

Despite frequently and falsely claiming that he actually won the election and making the issue a central point of his 2024 bid, Trump has occasionally over the last few years admitted that he lost. Trump lost the popular vote to Biden my 7 million votes and the Electoral College by 74 electoral votes. His effort to overturn the election culminated in Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters hoping to stop the certification of his defeat.

White nationalist Nick Fuentes blasted Trump Sept. 4 for admitting that he lost the 2020 election, and said that he will work to get voters not to back Trump.

“So, why did we do Stop the Steal? Why did did anyone go to Jan. 6? Why did any one go to jail? … It would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged,” Fuentes said on his podcast, referring to the criminal charges for those who invaded and ransacked the Capitol. "It would’ve been good to know that before (I) had all my money frozen, put on a no-fly list, banned from everything, lost all my bank and payment processing.”

Fuentes, a podcaster and Holocaust denier who dined with Trump and the notorious rapper Ye at Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Fla., in 2022 went on to call it a “tremendous betrayal” and “callus indifference to the sacrifices that his supporters made on his behalf.”

You should not be allowed to lobby or buy your way into the government, The more you read about American politics the more ridiculous it gets.

They should rename the country from “United states of America” to “United states of corporations “

In my youth, I was an idealist. As an adult, not only have I changed, but I’ve abandoned my idealism. I consider myself a realist, now. If you think voting for your preferred candidate is gonna change farming monopolies, the importing of illegal drugs, or the greed on Capitol Hill, then you’re in for a big disappointment.

In my opinion, none of this is gonna change because only certain people make a career of politics: greedy people who care more about their pockets than the public.

The people who care more about the public than their own pockets are busy at the ground level actually helping people. Those kinds of people don’t make it far in politics. They’re not built for it, and they don’t have the connections, nor the stomach for it.

Our government sent $12.1B to Ukraine in 2023. Meanwhile there are US veterans who are homeless. Please make that make sense.

The government is not on your side. Look out for yourself and your loved ones, and live your life.

Changes in Net Worth of U.S. Senators and Representatives (Personal Gain Index)

For the first time in history, the majority of America’s elected officials in Washington, D.C. are millionaires.[1][2] At the same time, 50 percent of Americans cannot afford to spend $5,000 in an emergency.[3]

The median American citizen[4] saw his or her household net worth decrease from 2004 to 2012 by an annual rate of -0.94 percent, while members of Congress experienced a median annual increase of 1.55 percent. Congress saw a total increase of $316.5 million in assets held by all members in the study.[5]

This page is about changes in net worth of U.S. Senators and Representatives during their time in office. The data goes from 2004 through 2012.

This is the first part of the Personal Gain Index. The Personal Gain Index is a two-part study that examines the extent to which members of the U.S. Congress have individually prospered during their tenure as public servants.

Personal Finances

In some ways, lawmakers’ finances look a lot like those of many Americans. They include diverse portfolios of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate. They have bank accounts, credit cards and mortgages. The difference: Politicians generally have more money, must make their investments public and routinely have access to nonpublic information.

In this section, explore what lawmakers reported in personal financial disclosures through 2018, which we used to estimate their net worth. (Learn about our methodology and why these reports matter).

Richest Members of Congress, 2018

Below are the top ten richest members of both the House and Senate, collectively they account for almost half of the entire net worth of Congress.

Poorest Members of Congress, 2018

The salary of a typical member of Congress is $174,000. No one is qualifying for food stamps, but some lawmakers carry significant personal and/or business debt. Here are those “poorest” members.

Besides some of the things I don’t agree with, what else could go wrong, and do the positives outweigh the negatives?

Trump wants Elon Musk to tackle government efficiency

Trump has previously advocated for reforming the civil service

The idea was initiated by Musk who said he would work for free

Trump claims the plan would save the government trillions

(NewsNation) — Former President Donald Trump wants billionaire Elon Musk to do a financial and performance audit of the government to facilitate massive reforms.

Trump announced the idea during an address at the New York Economic Club, where he unveiled his economic agenda should he win a second term. He said Musk had suggested the idea, noting that Musk also endorsed his candidacy.

The former president said such an audit would be to combat waste and fraud and suggested it could save trillions for the economy.

As the first order of business, Trump said that this commission will develop an action plan to eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months.

Musk quote tweeted news of Trump’s plan and wrote; “I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises,” he said Wednesday.

“No pay, no title, no recognition is needed,” Musk added. In a separate quote tweet, the X owner said the commission “is badly needed.”

Trump has long advocated for reforming the government, including efforts to make it easier to fire nonpolitical civil service employees.

Those employees are currently protected from being fired because their political views do not align with the White House, something Trump has said he plans to change.

Trump and Musk have a reputation for firing workers, including mass layoffs. Musk let go of a significant portion of Twitter’s workforce when he bought the company, now known as X.

Musk has also faced multiple legal actions due to the practice, including those alleging unfair dismissal, firings as an act of retaliation and alleging Musk did not provide necessary severance for employees. He has also been accused of violating labor laws.

A push to reduce the corporate tax rate

Trump said Thursday he would reduce the corporate tax rate to 15%, from 21% – but only for companies that make their products in the US.

“If you outsource, offshore, or replace American workers, you are not eligible for any of these benefits. In fact, you will pay a very substantial tariff when a product comes in from another country,” the former president said in his speech.

Trump has said repeatedly that he’s interested in lowering the corporate levy further than the 21% rate put in place by his 2017 tax law, one of the signature achievements of his administration. Prior to the law, the corporate tax rate was 35%.

The former president has argued that reducing the rate, along with making other provisions of the tax law permanent and enacting additional tax cuts, would grow the economy, raise revenue and cut the deficit. However, the economic effects of the 2017 law remain a matter of debate among experts. And slashing the rate that low could prove a hard sell in Congress, which would have to approve the measure amid concerns about the rising federal debt.

But Trump also pointed to his proposed government efficiency commission as a way to reduce government spending.

“As the first order of business, this commission will develop an action plan to totally eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months,” he told the audience. “This will save trillions of dollars.”

Trump and congressional Republicans have long pointed to combating waste, fraud and abuse as ways to save the federal government money. But that refrain is “often an excuse to do nothing,” said Marc Goldwein, senior policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

The commission would also have to be given a broad mandate to review the largest federal spending programs – Social Security, Medicare and defense – to be most effective, Goldwein said.

Other proposals

Trump on Thursday proposed a ban on mortgages for undocumented immigrants in an effort to address housing affordability. The impact of what he described as a “flood” of “illegal aliens” on pushing up housing costs can’t be ignored, the former president said.

Undocumented immigrants, however, make up a tiny portion of the mortgage market. In 2023, only 5,000 to 6,000 mortgages were made to holders of Individual Tax Identification numbers, according to a recent Urban Institute report. (Those who are not legally authorized to work in the US obtain ITINs to file taxes since they are not eligible for Social Security numbers.)

Other ways Trump said he would make housing more affordable included getting rid of regulations that increase costs – with the goal of cutting the cost of a new home in half – and opening up some federal land available for large-scale housing construction in low-tax, low-regulation zones. He said falling interest rates would send mortgage rates down to 3% or even lower, which would make financing less expensive for homebuyers.

Trump also promised Thursday to make gasoline cheap again by slashing red tape and drilling for more oil.

“We’re going to get gasoline below $2 a gallon,” he said in his speech.

However, some experts warn it would take an economic calamity to make that happen.

“Think about Covid. That’s the type of situation you would need to get gasoline under $2,” Andy Lipow, president of consulting firm Lipow Oil Associates, told CNN in a phone interview. “You would need a significant economic downturn across the world – including in the US – that substantially and negatively impacts demand. You’d need oil at $40.”

I have strong opinions on the matter so I’ll say this:

When people get elected to office, we have no control over their actions. We must adjust to the good and the bad, and there can be a lot of bad at times. We will see. I’ll vote, and see where the chips fall, for better or worse.
