World Politics, Good Or Bad

I think some people are so sensitive that as soon as he said “animals” they get offended and forget about everything else.

There are people who think that you can’t say anything offensive to “minorities”. Even if that minority is a criminal who opens fire in a public space, robs people, and sells drugs.

Trump’s defense choice stuns the Pentagon and raises questions about the Fox News host’s experience

President-elect Donald Trump stunned the Pentagon and the broader defense world by nominating Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as his defense secretary, tapping someone largely inexperienced and untested on the global stage to take over the world’s largest and most powerful military.

The news was met with bewilderment and worry among many in Washington as Trump passed on a number of established national security heavy-hitters and chose an Army National Guard officer well known in conservative circles as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

While some Republican lawmakers had a muted response to the announcement, others called his combat experience an asset or said he was “tremendously capable.”

Hegseth’s choice could bring sweeping changes to the military. He has made it clear on his show and in interviews that, like Trump, he is opposed to “woke” programs that promote equity and inclusion. He also has questioned the role of women in combat and advocated pardoning service members charged with war crimes.

In June, at a rally in Las Vegas, Trump encouraged his supporters to buy Hegseth’s book and said that if he won the presidency, "The woke stuff will be gone within a period of 24 hours. I can tell you.”

The 44-year-old Hegseth, a staunch conservative who embraces Trump’s “America First” policies, has pushed for making the military more lethal. During an interview on “The Shawn Ryan Show” podcast, he said allowing women to serve in combat hurts that effort.

“Everything about men and women serving together makes the situation more complicated, and complication in combat, that means casualties are worse,” Hegseth said.

And while he said diversity in the military is a strength, he said it was because minority and white men can perform similarly but the same isn’t true for women.

By opening combat slots to women, “we’ve changed the standards in putting them there, which means you’ve changed the capability of that unit,” Hegseth said in the podcast interview.

Since then-Defense Secretary Ash Carter opened all combat roles to women in 2016, women have successfully passed the military’s grueling tests to become Green Berets and Army Rangers, and the Naval Special Warfare’s test to serve as a combatant-craft crewman — the boat operators who transport Navy SEALs and conduct their own classified missions at sea.

While Trump lauded Hegseth as “tough, smart and a true believer in America First,” others were quick to point to the TV personality’s lack of experience. Some suggested he could be Pentagon chief in name only as the Trump White House runs the department.

Thieves in NYC have reached a new low as they’re now targeting delivery trucks, stealing packages while they’re in transit. But as bad as this sounds, it’s part of a sophisticated crime trend as some of the thieves have teamed up with hackers to locate expensive products while they’re in the hands of companies like fedex.

I don’t see this happening in open carry states.

In those states people will shoot. No doubt about it.

For some people “legal immigration” is some sort of bigotry.

But those people are the bigots, because they assume these migrants aren’t capable of legal entry.

The world has the opportunity to observe how the Republican party can influence the shaping of global affairs. :+1:

Republicans win the House, NBC News projects, as Trump’s party takes full control of Washington

WASHINGTON — Republicans will maintain control of the House of Representatives by the thinnest of margins, NBC News projected Wednesday, handing President-elect Donald Trump and his party all the levers of power in Washington.

A Republican-controlled Congress will allow Trump to quickly fill out his Cabinet and other top administration roles and advance his agenda for at least the next two years, though Democrats will have some sway with small majorities in the House and Senate.

House Republicans’ razor-thin victory was propelled by Trump’s decisive win over Vice President Kamala Harris in both the Electoral College and the popular vote. It represents a stinging blow to Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats, who now will have virtually no check on Trump, a man they warned on the campaign trail is a threat to democracy, an extremist and a fascist.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Republicans flipped seven seats, while Democrats flipped six seats, for a net GOP gain of just one seat. So far, Republicans have captured the 218 seats needed to secure the majority to Democrats’ 208 seats. Last week, Republicans flipped three Democratic Senate seats to win control of the upper chamber.

“It is a beautiful morning in Washington. It is a new day in America,” a celebratory Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said on the steps of the Capitol, flanked by his leadership team, as the House returned to Washington on Tuesday. “The sun is shining, and that is a reflection about how we all feel.”

Republicans complete power takeover with House majority

The Republicans were declared the majority party in the US House of Representatives Wednesday, completing a clean sweep of Congress and the White House in last week’s elections and handing incoming president Donald Trump vast legislative power.

After more than a week of vote counting, CNN and NBC projected that Trump’s party had reached the 218 seats needed to retain their majority in the 435-seat lower chamber, having already seized the Senate from the Democrats.

“It is a beautiful morning in Washington. It is a new day in America,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson, who held a press conference to celebrate victory Tuesday before the result was official.

“The sun is shining, and that’s a reflection about how we all feel. This is a very, very important moment for the country and we do not take it lightly.”

Trump triumphed in every swing state in the November 5 presidential election and also looked to have won the national popular vote, with preliminary figures showing him ahead of Democratic Party challenger Kamala Harris by 3.2 million votes.

Having control of both chambers of Congress will clear the way for him to confirm his nominations for key administration positions and will also allow him to push through his radical agenda of mass deportations, tax cuts and slashing regulations.

Trump confirms plan to declare national emergency, use military for mass deportations.

President-elect Donald Trump on Monday confirmed he would declare a national emergency to carry out his campaign promise of mass deportations of migrants living in the U.S. without legal permission.

Overnight, Trump responded to a social media post from Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton, who said earlier this month there are reports the incoming administration is preparing such a declaration and to use “military assets” to deport the migrants.

“TRUE!!!” Trump wrote.

Trump pledged to get started on mass deportations as soon as he enters office.

“On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out,” he said during a rally at Madison Square Garden in the closing days of the presidential race. “I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible.”

Throughout the campaign, Trump vowed to mobilize the National Guard to assist with the deportation effort. Experts told ABC News such a move would mark a fundamental shift for the military, which does not normally engage with domestic law enforcement issues.

*Excerpt from an interview:

Nunez : What would you say is the most effective form of marketing for your business?

Merson: Social media, specifically Facebook and Instagram, with well-chosen influencer partnerships are definitely the most effective form of marketing for Reina Rebelde, currently. We have a process by which we select the influencers that we want to work with, and we work hard to screen the relationship to make sure that they are as inspired and excited by the brand and to collaborate as we are, before we work with them. Our customer is a brilliant woman, she smells inauthenticity quickly, so we try not to make any missteps in this regard. Many influencers also have money being thrown at them by much deeper pockets than we have, so we have to find the right people who want to partner for the right reasons.

I put in bold the phrase that caught my attention the most in this interview. Being an influencer is a real thing, apparently.

It’s easy to disregard it and think that influencers are a bunch of knuckleheads on the internet. Not so.

A lot of people are watching them. And although “influencer” sounds vague, their impact is real. And so is their income.

Laugh if you want. Those guys are making bank.
