I’ve been live trading for about 1 month now with 6 months demo before that. I recently attended a free forex semiar in the UK run by a company called Knowledge to Action set up by someone called Greg Secker (An American trader), on the Seminar we were told about a two day forex training couse in London costing 2300 pounds with promises of between 500 and 1200 pips per week using there specifically designed system and guidence on how to use the system and implement it with support after. Its been hard to find either positive or negitive reviews on line and would really like to hear from someone who has attended the course in London or knows someone who has and their experience of that before I take the plunge.
i have to be honest looking up his name reminds me of looking up these comercial gimicks like fap turbo, its all just websites trying to sell you stuff i would edge on the side of caution purly because not 1 human being has wrote a damm word about him
I also went along to the introductory seminar and thought it was well presented. The point was more to find out what the course was teaching rather than planning to sign up for the 3 day course. When asked exactly what they taught, the attendees were told that they would be given ‘strategies that win 80% of the time’. The million dollar question is ‘What would anyone be doing teaching others if they had such a successful system ?’ Personally, I’d rather be sitting on my yacht in the south of France if I had such a holy grail. Up until 2 years ago, I had been working on a trading desk for 12 years (Equities) and we used to spend millions every year on new models and research trying to find an edge - when you think you find something that works it soon disappears and the game starts again. So I’m really not sure how a bunch of small time players such a KTA (n disrespect intended) could have come up with something that the big banks who combined spend zillions on, haven’t discovered.
On leaving the seminar, I was constantly called by one of their representatives asking if I would be interested in signing up. Eventually, I went to their ‘trading floor’ in Fulham (more out of curiosity than anything) and had a more frank conversation with their guy. He basically spelt it out that you would get 3 strategies and the knowledge and help to set up a trading account with a broker. I could see one of the classes taking place while we were talking and clearly they were being taught ‘head and shoulders’ which as you probably know is nothing new and indeed is available on this very site !! Needless to say, I thanked him for his time and headed home.
In Summary, from my experience (which is next to zero in the Forex market, but substantial in Equities), there is no experience like experience itself. The amount of free information that is available on the internet/forums/blogs etc. is vast and pretty much covers everything you need to know before paper/live trading. I think this site especially gives a brilliant grounding in Forex and emphasises the commitment you need to make in order to be successful. If you have a spare 2500, add it to your capital and use it to learn from losing trades because essentially, that’s how we all learn.
There should be red flags being raised if anybody is promising anything in this market. While you’re going to have to pay to get a person to person trainer, the Baby Pips school is probably the best place to get started if you haven’t already gone through the lessons.
HHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMM Greg Secker WELL THAT SAYS IT ALL GUYS.YES HAVE DONE THE COARSE THEY PROMISE YOU THE WORLD AND REALLY DELIVER NOTHING PROMISES LIKE WE WILL GUIDE YOU STEP BY STEP UNTIL YOU CAN TRADE ON YOUR OWN 2 FEET. YES THATS CORRECT BUT THEY FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT YOU ONLY GET 3 COACHING SESSIONS AND THEN YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EXTRA TRAINING SESSIONS. I DONT KNOW ANY BODY THAT HAS MASTERED ALL THAT HE IS TEACHING IN 3 COACHING SESSIONS SO EXPECT TO PAY MORE MONEY, I AM PRETTY P/OFFED TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH IF PEOPLE PROMISE TO DELIVER THEN SIMPLY PUT DELIVER, APART FROM THAT THE STRATEGIES ARE GREAT BUT WITHOUT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TRAINING WITH THE STRATEGIES THERE USELESS.
SO NO DONT DO HES COARSE FIND SOME ONE THAT WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT PROMISE TO DELIVER 4K IS A BIT MUCH TO PAY FOR NO SUPPORT
Andy do your self a favor and stay right away, i have had basic training and i still didnt pick any thing up get some body that will show you one on one and get that in writing because they will promise you they do which they do agree to hold your hand write through for an extra coaching fee so dont be fuooled by greg seckers cool sharm
regards Concerned
I totally believe that everything that you need can be found for free starting right here. Intelligent questions usually get good answers on the forum and the Internet is full of good sites for learning Forex. It is up to the individual to absorb and apply the lessons that are out there. To me the reason that so many people fail is that they are either do not have the aptitude for this profession or they just plain don’t follow the rules. Learn about yourself first through self training and demo trading then later if you want to spend some money on advanced training you will be better prepared to filter through the mountains of crap out there.
I’ve heard about this new trading course for students - it’s not offering the world or claiming to teach you how to become a millionaire - that simply isn’t possible
But it takes a new angle, trying to give you all the fundamentals (and actually gets you virtually trading in real-time) over 5 days, taught by some experienced guys.
This is surely a more realistic way to kick off a financial career?
And it’s not like the LSE summer school which is very vague and less career focused
It’s held at Imperial College London this Summer.
its just short of 2000 pounds for the 5 days, which i suppose with bed and breakfast is actually ok in comparison to other courses.
I signed up for the Greg Secker course costing me $5000AUD. I’ve been paper trading for just over a week and 80% of my trades have been losing trades and not winning as they claim in the course. One positive about this course is that you get 3 free coaching sessions. I am having next week so be interesting to see what they say. Its possible I got the strategies wrong or this could be one great big scam.
Hi Tommyboy74
In my view K2A is NOT a scam and their strategies neither work or don’t work. In order for you to get them to work takes time and a wider knowledge of the FX markets over time.
Personally there entry criteria on Pivots and Snipers is soooo rigid you almost never have a valid entry point.
The IncGen’s…well they also work but you need practice practice practice to pull these off successfully.
Like you I have also spent $$$ on K2A and this was astarting point for me. I still have a their 50/200emas on some of my charts and look and say “oh look there is a sniper”…but never take one.
My coaching sessionds were a joke…
First he’ll say on snipers "go for just 20/20"
Then he’ll say ignore the daily charts
They will always try and tell you there is something you did wrong when you took on a bad trade. Something you didn’t spot blah blah blah…NO the markets are random. Read Mark Douglas and visit my blog at “fxintradayjim” (google it) where i have journalled my intraday trading since K2A…6 months ago.
I just don’t understand what a course can offer a trader of any skill level, when there are so many free resources that a little google work can uncover.
Surely the only thing better than going at your own rate in front of your own computer is having the ability to ask others if you get stuck (many forex forums for that) or better still actually working around experienced traders in an exchange?
Why separate yourself from ANY potential account capital?
@ Cord
Cannot disagree with you.
Funny thing is I only really knew that fact after I had spent the money and realised that what they teach is freely available. A course, and there are loads cheaper than k2A, at least get you in with humans and get you feeling confident about what you are embarking on. What with so many online courses and advice with sometimes contradict each other I can see how people end up thinking they need a course which might clear the skies and show the path to the holy grail.
I always reccommend babyPips college as a great place to go and get yourself started
I’m working at a hotel in central London this week at a conference and a few doors down in another suite there’s a “Ultimate forex secrets” course being taught.
I’m so glad I’m not in there. Just the word “secrets” is an instant turn off.
I think these seminar/courses are so popular because people buy into the fast track idea. They think that if they shell out a couple of Gs they can cut the learning curve down and start making fabulous money very quickly.
Ironically I was looking at an expensive course today produced by the authors of the book I’m reading at the moment (“Trend following” by Michael Covel).
I also looked at another course by Steve Nison that’s $450. Both of these I’m looking to promote on my website as I believe they are good value products form well established names in the industry.
I’ve noticed that there’s a difference in how good courses and junk are marketed. Good courses promote teaching you how to trade, junk courses promote teaching you how to make x amount of money in y amount of time…
There is an entire industry built up around taking money from people looking for ways to get rich quick with little to no effort or eduction or work. It’s a booming industry - mainly because so many people believe that they can pay x amount of money for a “secret” holy grail…
I’ll pay for good information, but only after a lot of due diligence.
