BabyPips.com Forum Changes

Hello guys! How are you all doing? Great I hope!

One of our forum members was asking about the spam filter we currently installed and he gave us an idea to create this thread to help people stay in the loop. Thanks Kevan Reynolds! Okay, so we’ve made a couple of tweaks on our forums. We believe these little changes will help improve your overall forum experience. Read up!

  1. The Pips a la carte badge that you can now include in your forum profile.[/B]

You can now add your AskPips.com, FreshPips.com, MeetPips.com, mt4pips.com and ReviewPips.com accounts on your forum profile! For more information on how to do that, check out this link: BabyPips.com Forex Forum - Announcements in Forum : Newbie Island

2. The additional message capacity for forum members.

We have also improved the private message capacity for FX-Men Honorary Members and Superior Master Contributors.

• FX-Men Honorary Members will now be able to keep 200 messages
• Superior Master Contributors on the other hand will have space for 100 messages.

3. Spam filter plugin

After receiving tons of complaints about spam, (I’m sure ya’ll remember seeing 10 messages of “PENNYSTOCK RICHES FOR YOU in 30 DAYS OR LESS!“ in 2 seconds!), we have decided enough is enough and installed a spam filtering plugin on the forums. We set this to specifically monitor members with less than 50 posts since spammers usually won’t spend time gaining more than 50 posts just to spam the heck out of us. The plugin monitors suspicious comments and once it detects them as spam, it’ll be dropped in the moderation queue for approval or deletion. In the event that it incorrectly identified your post as spam, we approve your post of course and then it submits the “false positive” back to the plugin for analysis and improvement.

4. Link posting limited to people with less than 5 posts

Members with less than 5 posts are no longer allowed to post links. With this modification, we have removed the “Link Violation” infraction but increased our Advertising-detection skills. Ha! You can help us too! Just report that suspicious post and we’ll handle the rest!

5. Time delay is now set to 5 minutes.

As an added feature for spam control, we have set the posting time delay to 5 minutes. Members will need to wait 5 minutes after posting for them to be able to publish another message.

We are always thinking of ways to give you the best learning and collaborative environment. That also means a forum that’s spam-free! If you have ideas or comments you’d like to share, please feel free to let us know. We’d love to hear them. You can send us an email at <[email protected]> or call the attention of any of our forum moderators!

Great work Jess - thanks for keeping us informed
