Favorite ea

Okay this is corny I know! I always get a lot of questions about my favorite ea. People ask what ea would I recommend. Well I can’t “recommend” any ea to anyone I can say what my favorite ea is :0

and…

my favorite ea is…

WSFR is break even at best at this point

SmartfX is still in positive territory by a tiny bit

I love megadroid at her solid 3% a month

MC2 has been very steady and stable and has earned about 4% per month eur/usd taking a blood bath at -4% but gbp/usd has more than taken up the slack at +5.5% a month

Since June Thor2 has earned a handsome 4.4% monthly

and I have plenty of other ea’s that I have high hopes for

-but-

My favorite ea. I hate to say it, it’s a love/hate thing but I have to say my favorite ea is Forex Growth Both

There I said it. I know there have been technical difficulties but I have never really had a problem with it. Over she loses a lot more times than she wins and at times have given back literally thousands of dollars in profit. But at the end of the day the numbers don’t lie and since June she has earned me a whopping 8.65% a month.

This ea has proven to work well even in this climate and I can almost say that this ea has a permanent home in my portfolio. I know they say eventually all ea’s will fail and that does seem to be true but it would seem fgb’s exploitation of eur/usd break outs has some serious longevity to it.

Anyway what is your favorite ea’s guys/gals? I would love to know.

Hi John, I’m using only Smartfx and by now it’s doing good on v11. Are you already trading on v11 ?
Are you using the new Pepperstone Edge account ?
I would like to know more about your experience with Thor2. How many times it trade on the week and what is the drawndown ? I read it’s slow.

Best regards

Kangaroo is my best consistent performer.

Thor does not trade very often it has had 25 trades since June 1 but with conservative settings it has achieved 3.84% a month so far so not bad. dd is 2.79%

As for smartfx I am on ver. 11 and no not edge (yet) just razor.

InspironFX… if you would like to know something more please send PM

Thanks

Forex Robot ( stevehopwoodforex.com • View forum - Scoobs Forex Robot forum ). Especially versions 5.2 and 6.1g
Free bot too (non-commercial).
Ran it on a live a/c for some time and was impressed (sorry, don’t have any % gain figures, but did better than Megadroid)

Cheers!

I would have to say that my favourite is ForexGridTrader. It’s also averaged slightly below 30% per month since about November last year, so yeah, I think it is my best. I also want to try out Forex Envy soon so see how it performs. By the way, thanks for your post some time back Johhny; when you said you withdrew some money made from trading on your eas. Initially, I used to think that one could not make any gains from EAs but since that post of yours I’ve reconsidered my approach to trading. Less time in front of the screen for me these days!!!

ForexGridTrader is very risky, it won’t be profitable for years, back tests are unacceptable

That’s true, I’ve also noticed it myself that it is a risky EA. I think the key to is to withdraw your profits frequently. Anyway, are you able to publish your backtest results of these EA because I havent been able to get around to backtesting myself.

Am I reading it right? 30% per month??? Sounds too good to be true.

Reading by its name, I guess this ea dose not use SL right?

Could you pls advise what the DD is? Thanks richbugger

yea grid traders are risky but if you withdraw regularly they can make a lot of money. My first favorite ea was an ea called piptopia and it consistantly earned me around 15%

I was considering forexenvy but it is to complicated for me so instead I joined easyforex they have a great ea but to be honest I haven’t really messed with it yet but they had the “fun $50 club” which is a grid/martingale ea that you start out with $50 or some other insignificant amount and you withdraw regularly. The author of the ea comes right out and warns that you will blow your account at some point.

Anyway I am also looking at ray scalper and H E Spider

As for Steve Hopwood, I think he is an amazing programmer and has a knack for turning strats into ea’s. I should take some time and look into his ea’s they have always been top notch!

How about I just give you the myfxbook link then you can get all the info you like. I’ll warn you, the results are pretty tempting. And if you do decide to trade, choose your lot sizes wisely or just use the lots sizes the vendor recommends.

Forex Grid Trader EA [FX Clearing] System | Myfxbook

Also at the moment I am trying out this ea on difference pairs and using different settings (e.g making the grid bigger but using a higher lot size) and I’ll just have to wait and see to see how it does.

wow very nice results since end of last November! At this rate you will have 2 comas (7 digits $1,000,000) in your trade account in no time! 40% dd is a little high but than again my highest dd is around 57%

Wow richbugger, very impressive result. Thanks very much for sharing. Like Johnnykanoo said, your account will reach 7 digit real soon the way it’s going.

I’ve had a look the the website for this bot. The price is a bit high compare to other commercial bot but if the return will be the same as what you got, it is definitely worth investing in.

BTW, which broker are you using?

Cheers,

Hi Johnny,

I notice you started a few threads evaluating quite a number of EAs, hence your sharing is very much appreciated.

I wonder which broker you use for Forex Growth Both and Megaroid. I’ve read on a few threads different brokers results very different results.

Much appreciated.

I use a Trading Point micro account. By the way the link I shared is not for my account, lol, it is for the EA itself. And yeah, I will reach 2 commas soon at that rate but, that is considering I dont make any withdrawals (which I will by the way) because with these martingale/grid EAs they could just wipe out your whole account in 1 day if the market produces a very strong move.

Just out of interest, how can you improve a trade system by withdrawing profits?

Either the system is profitable, then you should let the profits stay for increasing the trade volume. Or it’s not and wipes your account from time to time, then by withdrawing profits this will just happen earlier.

You’re quite right that you cannot improve an ea by withdrawing profits. Withdrawing profits is not to make the ea perform better but it part of a money management plan needed when trading riskier eas in case that one BAD day comes.
