Please excuse my ignorance, but hereās a question about magic numbers in EAāsā¦ are trades placed by EAās in MT4 traceable in some way according to the magic number (or S1 and S2 reference numbers, in the case of MD) of the EA that placed the trades? And can this tracing be done by the user of the EA?
I understand from reading the MD manual that oneās BROKER can see these magic numbers (?), and hence (in some cases) the recommendation to frequently change the numbers to elude unscrupulous brokers. Very well, itās just I would have expected to be able to use the magic numbers myself to see which robot took which trade. Is that right? I have checked in the Experts tab, and the Journal tab, and unless Iām missing something (has for sure been known to happen!) the magic numbers are not mentioned in these places in relation to trading action.
Any help much appreciated.

Magic numbers are used to let metatrader know that you have a different robot in use. It allows the software a number to keep the trades sepperate. For example, funnel may have 8 trades going and MD would have one. This magic number allows the bots to track thier own trades so it doesnt get in the way of the other robots. You can put a number iin it all long as it has the correct length of numbers or just leave it alone at default. The dafault is a number that has been tested not to be in use with any currently known robot out there. But you can randomly change it if you wilsh. It really dont matter what the numbe is unless you are running more than one brand of robot.

Those losses were due to a bad idea of manipulate the GMT . Which never work for me . also a few time i place my own trades on this platform which are part of the losses too .
By the way April 24 account was already on $1000 profit so there was no capital lost just part of the profit
Im being using this robot on demo account for 7 + months now and trust me it is good profitable .
Also you can set the EA to take smalls losses and small profits . Setting was a little too risky
Even with little risk there is always a risk of losses . If you donāt want take that risk donāt play the game
Weekends Laptop and robot stay ON however nothing happens on those days ā¦ EA works good when you are away but make sure it is set to take small risks just in case ā¦

You came to the best place to ask for the MD ā¦ Im far from an expert but I will put my 5 cents ā¦
Iād been using the megadroid with 5 different brokers at same time on the same laptop with the same code . I donāt think it matter as long it is in the same computer .
Best broker is one of the more complicates answer to give ā¦ I was looking for 6 month and when I thought to found it everything was wrong with it ā¦ For best information look the post 3 o 4 page ago from āTheprotraderā . His answer help me a lot . Now I know what to look on broker
A few MD settings could be change ā¦
-You should change the reference 1 and 2
-you can adjust the lot size and risk level (0.4) works for me but it is a little too risky
-you can turn on - off the recovery mode . Recovery mode will double the lot size after a loss . This can be good however could turn the account in biggest looses . Mine is on
- Never play with the GMT ā¦ Believe me I try very different times and all end in big looses ( robot doesnāt trade friday neither 2 last days on the month and some hours but there is a good reason for this )

Thanks for the tips re magic numbers. So I gather theyāre more so the robots to know whatās going on, rather than the userā¦ fair enough. Shall be checking the charts for little buys and sells as per usual.
By the way, is it true that brokers somehow can āseeā these magic numbers which are in use by oneās robots? If soā¦ how? Just wondering.
(Hey, for all I know, my broker can watch me trade through my webcam!)
Ps. Also interested to know, having read through a few posts recently re broker choice, is there anyone out there whoās being having reasonably (or very!?) positive success with MD, using [B]FXCM[/B] as their broker, and MT4 āpowered by [B]Boston Technologies[/B]ā?

My secret for MD is:
default all but the following.
risk set to .25 or .30
use IBFX and you can leave the GMT time set at default of 0.
I use a VPS tagadab. Its expensive, but I have faith in it. Its fast and has never failed me. I have over 44 wins and one loss on day 3 when I started.
Im up about 700 % over all so far. But only about 9 % over the last 3 weeks. I know a loss should be comingā¦ but so far, so good. Hasnt traded very much in the last 2 weeks. Only 3 trades in last 3 weeks. last month had a 2 week dry spell of no trades. Like they say, No trades equalls no Losses!!! S1 and S2 are your magic numbers and can leave at default or you can change them if running another robot on the same broker platform. The chance they would both have the same number would be very rareā¦ so i would leave them alone. Start with $250 or more so you can see the growth factor in dollars. With a larger account its more fun to see a $25 growth than a $2.50 win.
Take your time, Let time work on your sideā¦I do enjoy seeing it trade, esp when we have winners.
Its addicting to check on it each evening and see if a trade is in progress.

I have been trialling this for almost a month and it has been very quiet, using default settings, with risk at 0.2, recently increased to 0.3. Anyone else had a quiet time latelyā¦literally I had one trade in the past 2 weeks using MT4 on FXCM & not many more before that.

I am using Gallant because of my 500-600 acct size and its free VPS but I think I may switch to FXDD.
This morning I took a non Megadroid trade on EURJPY, I wanted to buy EURJPY preferably with a buystop entry but since I didnāt want it the required50 pips away I had no choice but to use a market entry.
The spread was not more than 3.5 pips and it was trading about 109.02 when I bot at market and immediately was out over 7.5 pipsāabout $8.50 on a .1 lot. Funny thing is the chart high on my 1 min bar only got to 109.036 but my entry was 109.063, the next bar was lower and the bar before entry hadnāt hit 109.000ā¦
Can anyone explain that and will other brokers really be better?
My MD have not trade at all in the last 6 business days .
