intraday trading
in sufficiently volatile markets, you could even call it “fast intraday trading” if you want
but nothing like scalping at all
scalping refers to covering the spread, and with spot forex, especially in the most liquid, most volatile, most highly traded pairs, that typically means 1-2 pips
here are some simple online explanations of what scalping is -
Scalping, when used in reference to trading in securities, commodities and foreign exchange, may refer to
Scalping is the shortest time frame in trading and it exploits small changes in currency prices. Scalpers attempt to act like traditional market makers or specialists. To make the spread means to buy at the Bid price and sell at the Ask price, in order to gain the bid/ask difference. This procedure allows for profit even when the bid and ask don't move at all, as long as there are traders w...
more important than that, though, in this context, is the reality that retail spot forex trading against a counterparty market maker is clearly not viable, and a contradiction in terms
and here are some posts and threads, from this forum, neatly explaining why -
Do you really? I guess it's less than 1%, probably less even than 0.1%, I know you've misunderstood what "scalping" means, but what's more important is that you've also misunderstood what a "broker" is. To be able to scalp successfully, you need a broker who isn't a counterparty to the transaction. This is among the many reasons why "scalping" and "retail forex trading" are mutually exclusive. I hope the people you're trying to explain this to already know enough to understand that…
I strongly suggest that you don't even think about it. The one thing you need for scalping (apart from the skill set, which very few people have, outside financial institutions) is an ultra-fast connection, with very fast upload and download speeds, no latency issues, and so on. All exactly the opposite of what a VPS can ever realistically offer. Beside which, scalping and retail forex trading are mutually exclusive activities, as explained here:- What kind of "otherwise"? What woul…
Scalping's profitable for successful traders with the skills and facilities to do it. For those people, it's also the lowest-risk kind of forex-trading there is. But you need to understand clearly that scalping and retail forex trading are mutually exclusive. There are several reasons for this, but the main one is that the person you think of as your "broker" (and the Babypips course unfortunately refers to that way) is actually your counterparty and would therefore be the party being scal…
Completing the Babypips course will be a good starting ground. After that, Investopedia will help. Winners Edge possibly but less so. First point: those are the markets that are hopeless for forex scalping. Second point: scalping and retail forex trading are mutually exclusive anyway, for several reasons, but the main one is that the person you think of as your "broker" (and the Babypips course unfortunately refers to that way) is actually your counterparty and would be the party being…
