I signed up for a free Forex seminar

Hello awesome people!

As most of you probably know, Iā€™m still pretty much a newbie and Iā€™m still trying to get a better understanding of forex and how it works. So I kinda tend to grab every opportunity I see to learn more about it. I found this free Forex seminar on FB and I excitedly signed up.

I was just wondering if you guys have attended anything like this?? What are your thoughts? Hmm. Not sure if Iā€™m allowed to share this but itā€™s Learn To Trade Forex Philippines. :frowning: Kinda hard to find Filipinos who are also into trading so I thought this might be a good opportunity to meet some.

Donā€™t take any I.d. with you, nor credit cards, nor cash.
That way if they try to pressure you to sign up to anything afterwards you wonā€™t have bank details or proof of who you are.

Good luck

ā€œFree forex seminarā€ is normally a euphemism for ā€œsales pitchā€.

And itā€™s often a euphemism for ā€œsales pitch for something so overvalued that we canā€™t possibly sell it any other wayā€.

I hope you enjoy it and find some value in it, but Iā€™d suggest not signing up for anything else from them at the time, and ESPECIALLY not for anything thatā€™s a ā€œtime-limited special offerā€: if they put time-pressure on you to buy anything, thatā€™s almost a guarantee that they canā€™t sell it any other way, which tells you something worth knowing.

Good luck.

Hi @ria_rose

I hope you would act upon the advice of the senior members of BP community accordingly.

However, if you are really interested in attending Forex Webinar Live or On Demand then you should check Investment dot comā€™s Education section.

Thank you so much everyone who replied to this question!  Sorry for just replying now. :frowning: But thank you so much for warning me too. :frowning:

Just to give you guys an update, I tried inviting a friend of mine to come with me (BAD IDEA I KNOW ) because I did not want to travel alone. :frowning: Upon mentioning it, he immediately warned me. :confounded: He told me that heā€™s heard of them before and theyā€™re definitely not good things! I shouldā€™ve checked your replies right away. :frowning:

Thanks eddie! I havenā€™t thought of this before. But good thing I wonā€™t have to do it because Iā€™m not gonna attend it :frowning:

I guess I just hit an impatient moment and I wanted to speed up my learning. :frowning: But then, my friend told me all about the costs and the false promises, and realized that Iā€™d rather do it slowly but surely. :nerd:

Thank you so much, lukas! Expectedly, you guys are right. Iā€™m not really one to spread rumors and all that so I wonā€™t go into detail about their ā€œactivitiesā€ :frowning: but Iā€™ve been told that these free seminars are really just sales pitches used to lure people who want to learn. :frowning:

Iā€™m so thankful to you guys for enlightening me!

I guess most of us have been to at least one of them in our time @ria_rose - worth the experience as long as you donā€™t get ā€œSucked inā€ by the hype

Haha. Did you learn anything from the seminars you attended? Ugh. It just seems like a really promising way to learn faster! No wonder a lot of people get ā€œsucked in.ā€ Good thing my friend and you guys warned me. :frowning:

Oh my! Glad you listened to your friend and to the advice of the members here! Just be patient and soon youā€™ll be a successful forex trader too!

Yeah! Iā€™m so glad too. HUHU. :frowning: I was actually wondering why there were no threads on it so I just asked about it myself. BEST. DECISION.

Yes ria - I did, I met some interesting people and was introduced to a forum I was active on for some years until it went defunct. I also learned that ā€œLevel 2ā€ existed and that some people traded S&P through it.

  • Never did find a way in myself at a reasonable cost though !

I learned that some people were spouting with complete confidence and belief, about things which were of doubtful value and that if they spoke with enough confidence, there was nobody prepared to question what they were saying, especially when they have ready prepared charts - cherry piced to back up what they say.

interesting day out, but I can be quite resistant to ā€œThe hard sellā€ - in fact I deliberately went to a ā€œTime share presentationā€ in Tenerife many years ago, just to ā€œGet a feelā€ of teh tactics employed. - We got picked up in a horse drawn carriage, treated like VIPs and moved from one "specialist sales person to another as we got ā€œSoftened upā€.

At the end, when I said ā€œer NO !ā€ - we were shouted at and abused for ā€œwasting their timeā€ ! even though at no point did we express any psitive interest at all ! - Had to insist quite hard that we got the ā€œComplimentary bottle of champagne - just for goingā€ which waspromised, - and we had to walk home to the hotel !

Wouldnā€™t have missed that for the world !

Usually, some brokers are willing to provide beginners some free lessons. However, such readings should be easy to get access by web visitors without paying anything. But for a seminar, if you are a beginner, what are you expecting in there? You probably got nothing to share or discuss with others. And you may be misled by others easily. The best way is start with watching some basic videos or books or anything helpful.

Hahaha. The true test of oneā€™s ability to say no is attending a Timeshare presentation!

Would have been interesting to see if youā€™d also have the ability to say no. Ha! Would have made for an interesting story but I suppose itā€™s a bit too risky.

What kind of seminar it is?

Thatā€™s a really interesting story. :stuck_out_tongue: Good thing you were strong enough to say no after the ā€œsoftening upā€ they tried to do. :stuck_out_tongue: Good job fighting for that champagne too! :joy: Haha. Iā€™m afraid that I wouldnā€™t be as strong if I were to be put in that situation.

Just curious. Donā€™t you ever wonder what wouldā€™ve happened if you said yes? Hahaha.

Hahaha. Iā€™m not very good at saying NO so, I hope I never attend something like this. Hahaha. Have you experienced a free seminar before?
