Is forex a lonely business?

Well. That’s definitely another story. Hahaha. But I guess it still helps to know that other people are going through the same things as you.

Definitely! You’re also someone who has been very helpful and transparent about their journey. Would you say this is one of your ways of combatting the “loneliness” of trading?

Apart from Babypips, what other forums are you on?

Hahaha. :stuck_out_tongue: Anything that involves adopting cats or dogs is usually a winner for me. Is this something you’ve done personally?

Absolutely. In the early 2000’s I was a member of three trader groups. The comradship was excellent for the dark hours whenh nothing seems to work and it’s hard to even open yet another chart. The technical knowledge I gained was invaluable.

Babypips is a great substitute.

Interesting! And it also makes sense. I guess the same thing goes for others’ opinions though. They only impact or ruin your strategy if you let them.

Ooh. :open_mouth: Interesting. I’m not sure if I’ve seen you post about this before. If you don’t mind, what happened to those trader groups? :open_mouth:

Membership gradually fell away, there was nothing to replace the combination of the TMT tech bubble and then the opening up of the trading access from the pc, laptop or mobile.

The global financial crisis killed a lot of interest in trading and we have not recovered. Bitcoin did not come close.

This is true - speaking this very evening re a bank manager - the ‘crisis’ caused him to lose a large slice of his pension - he’s not poor but he cld have been richer.

As for bitcoin - i have a rule, if i don’t really understand it’s fundamental value I don’t buy it - there are lots others out there to invest in - right now stocks - maybe - big week ahead.

Hi @ria_rose, yup I have 10+ wild kitties visited everyday. I have a forex account dedicated for them. :cat: Here is the one visiting me now.

More, there are 4 new born kittens. When I feel bored, I talk and play with them. As an introvert, it’s my best method to stay alive

Right now, I’m more focused on technical analysis—using indicators and analyzing market trends. How about you?

THEY ARE SO CUTTTEEEE! I can’t believe I only saw these pics now. :sob: I’m happy they’re keeping you company. And we’re also here if you ever get tired of interpreting their meow’s.

Yes, trading is a lonely business, especially for full time traders. Just to be clear, we are talking about what I call “professional loneliness”, as in you have no real colleagues to discuss what you love to do.

The reason being that every trader’s journey is different, we all look at the markets differently. And when a trader finally “gets it” and all the major pieces have fallen into place, his / her mindset goes through a massive paradigm shift. All of a sudden the number of people that understand and can relate shrinks dramatically.

In addition to this, when a trader finally makes it over to the other side and does it full time, he/she usually develops and designs their very own process highly customized to their own personality. When this happens, there is virtually no one to discuss this with, the trader becomes his own teacher, coach and mentor and the amount to learn from others (including other professional traders) shrinks over time.

In my case, I joined this forum and try to write more, but so far hasn’t helped much.

I think anything where you put your mind and soul into it can be feeling pretty lonely, no matter what. Still I try to keep myself busy with checking in forums, playing game, cooking, walking, etc. These helps you not to feel less lonely.

Forex can feel like a lonely business sometimes, especially since a lot of it involves solo decision-making and analysis. But it doesn’t have to be. Connecting with trading communities, joining forums, or even just chatting with fellow traders can make it feel less isolating. Plus, it’s nice to bounce ideas off others and get different perspectives.

Forex can feel lonely sometimes, especially with all the hours spent analyzing charts alone. I’ve found that connecting with other traders online helps combat that loneliness. Sharing experiences really makes a difference!

Definitely! I think it helps to have places like this to get to talk to other traders every now and then. I have a group of friends who are active in trading forex and crypto, but we rarely get to talk to each other due to our busy schedules. :frowning:

You may be right, but it’s worth noting that many of our feelings are self-imposed.

Think about why you think you should be alone just because you participate in trading?

In fact, there are no rules and obligations that should be followed. These are just stereotypes that you need to get out of your head.

If you learn to manage yourself well, you will be able to successfully manage your trading. This is very similar to managing your emotions. Do what you want, control yourself. If you want to communicate — communicate, if you like ice cream-eat it. Your brain will not get hung up on these tasks and will start thinking about trading, giving you new combinations in the morning for personal experiments.
