Is Babypips now selling advertising space to anyone who can write a check?
Or, has my browser been highjacked?
Here’s a screen-shot of the sort of stuff that showing up on my browser (Google Chrome):

That’s an adsense ad… BP is not in control of every ad…
I believe Yunny hit it on the head.^
So, you guys are seeing these non-forex ads, as well?
And, what is ad-sense?
According to wikipedia:
" Google AdSense is a program run by Google Inc. that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, and rich media adverts that are targeted to site content and audience."
Well the site content is wrong, but then again there’s that target audience bit…
I have also seen ads that point to “dating” sites, so I guess Babypips’ audience is mostly single male???
I get ads in the same two places that you highlighted, Clint, but I have to say that mine have all (as far as I can recall) been Forex-related. MIG Capital and FXCM are today’s two advertizers of choice. I know that both eSignal and ETX Capital turn up more than most, and as I use both of those I had always assumed that the advertizing is focussed on what I use on my desktop - but I am by no means an expert in these things. My browser is IE9, in case that makes a difference?

Hey Clint,
Great question. The others are right. What you’re seeing are Google AdSense ads. We allow Google to place advertisements from various advertisers on our website. Google does its best to keep the ads relevant to the content on the page or similar in nature to the content of other websites you have visited. We have some limited control over the ads that appear, but not full control. Any excess ad inventory that isn’t purchased by our direct-relationship brokers is often fulfilled using Google AdSense ads.
The easiest way to spot a Google AdSense ad is the by looking for the blue arrow in one of the corners of the advertisement. This icon is called the AdChoices icon. Read more about it here.
As we’ve stated in the past, banner and text advertising pays our bills. We try our best to keep the footprint of the ads on our website to a minimum. We appreciate all those who contribute to our website and also those who don’t block ads from showing on our website. We know ads can are annoying for many, so we understand the desire to block them. But like we said, we depend on those ads to pay our bills and keep this website a free resource.
If you ever have an issue with an advertisement on our website, please let us know. Thanks!

Just go to your browser settings and opt out of third party cookies. If you use Firefox, download ad blocker or similar and all ads get removed. You’ll find your browsing experience is greatly enhanced.
Yes, that’s an option, mrchilled, blocking third party cookies. The other side of that coin, however, is that many site features, not just on BabyPips.com, rely on cookies to operate correctly. Get rid of the cookie, get rid of the feature, features which are not always advertising related. So be aware that cookies do other things.

Well, it’s been a week since I started this thread, and for the past several days, all the non-forex advertising has disappeared. Is this just a coincidence, or did Babypips get rid of that stuff?
Right now, I have ads for FXCM and Oanda at the top of this page, and that’s the sort of “normal” advertising I’ve been accustomed to seeing for several years now.
I hope the dating sites, and all those other silly ads, are really gone.
When I want a date, I don’t go looking for her on the internet.
Yeah come to think of it I have not seen any either.
No changes on our end. We’ll have another look at our Google AdSense account, which serves the “different” ads that you’re experiencing, but our control is limited.

If these nonsense ads (or whatever they’re called) are “targeted to site content and audience”,
as piptronix says, then why are we getting all the ads for dating sites?
Do we look lonely, or something?
Q: Say, Clint, where did you meet your Russian girlfriend?
A: On Babypips, of course — best dating site on the web.
LOL Clint you’re killing me!! The ads on mine are all Forex/money related. Maybe you have in the past played a prank on someone and they have tweaked some settings on your account as a practical joke?! ‘charmingdate.com’ is an hilarious URL but maybe I just don’t get out enough.
Ahhh, I already wondered why you showed all these porn ads… Explains a lot…
Disclaimer: This is a scened situation where the author simulates that he visit porn-sites. Ofcourse nobody does that these days…
Maybe google’s algos are picking up keywords “Going Offshore to Escape the CFTC”
PS I’ve been using Opera and it comes with a nice little built-in “Block Content” feature. Seems to be a pretty fast and snappy browser too!. Of course I would never use it to block babypips ads.
Well, I did an internet search on Hillary Clinton for my 301 Moved Permanently thread.
So, maybe the little snoops at Google concluded that I was looking for a date. (Now, there’s a nightmarish thought!)
Next, I think I’ll do a search for bomb-making materials, just to see what sort of ads Google sneaks onto Babypips.
I hadn’t thought of that. I think you’re onto something.
Rofl. Maybe it’s the size of your trading account thats attracting them Clint? lol
All I can say is I do not see one single ad here on babypips, not even a “normal” one, whatever that is. Thats cos I have a filter in place. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. Add a line:
127.0.0.1 ads.babypips.com
