Political Opinion

Hey did anybody see Obama’s executive orders and gun control proposals?

It’s interesting how Obama always says that he is doing it for the children and uses them as props to pull on America’s heart strings.

Reminds me of a quote I read.

“The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.”

 • Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf page 403

It’s amazing how history is constantly repeating itself.

It’s a bit of a stretch to relate Obama with Hitler. When they start corralling people into ghettos, then perhaps my mind will change.

Nonetheless, I didn’t get the chance to read the orders.

Mind providing the cliff notes?

Is it so hard to believe people don’t act with other peoples best interests at heart? They act with their own. And that means power and money. History tells us this. As traders and investors I hope we are all aware of a thing called recency bias. Don’t let it affect you.

It’s too easy for people to stagmatize populaces. Government. Political parties. Religious organizations.

stigmatize? I would rather be overprotective of something that has a history of being trampled on by those seeking power.

The quote is spot on with what’s happening at the moment.

It reminds me of that interview with piers morgan, where the guy told piers he was standing on the graves of the sandy hook children to push his agenda.

It’s almost as bad when he shed that fake tear during his speech after the shooting.

Obama’s latest actions disgust me. The man is a prick.

Obama is no hitler, but the way he is using children as props to get emotional support is certainly out of the same playbook. He surrounds himself with children, willfully ignoring the facts about “assault weapons”, “high capacity magazines” and investigating the real culprit of these mass killings. They don’t tell you how banning assault weapons or high capacity magazines is actually going to stop anything, they just keep regurgitating that they are doing it for the children and it is cheap, really, because EVERYBODY wants what is best for the children. And he is insinuating that if you are in opposition to these “common sense gun laws” (loaded phrase) then clearly you are not thinking about what is good for the children. Nobody wants to feel like they are supporting something that is bad for children. It’s a cheap and disgusting way of garnishing support for a set of laws that are unconstitutional, make no difference in the stated goal of reducing deaths and gives the government a near monopoly on power which, as history has repeatedly demonstrated, always corrupts.

And to hear all this coming from a President who doesn’t bat an eye when one of his drone strikes wipes out a dozen children or civilians is rather hypocritical.

He is demonizing a class of people that don’t deserve the bad rep. Owning an “assault weapon” (yet another loaded term) is not a danger to children. 30 round (standard capacity) magazines aren’t either. Having these types of firearms doesn’t mean I am insensitive and I don’t have any regard for innocent children. These firearms are inanimate objects, just like the cans of Sterno fuel that were used to commit the largest mass murder of school children in US history. (39 children, 6 adults, bath school disaster)

We had an assault weapons ban under Clinton. 1 year later, the Oklahoma City Bombing happened and killed over 160 people, 19 of which were children. I highly doubt he would have inflicted that much damage if he ran in with a firearm as his first choice. And even the CDC stated that the assault weapon ban had no measurable impact on gun murders.

No, the government won’t be corralling us into ghettos, why? Because we are able to own firearms that are comparable to the ones the government employs, and we own them at a higher volume then the government. These bans, registries and other provisions that the president is pushing for, make it easier for true tyranny to emerge and that is no tin foil.

When people say we don’t need these weapons because the government hasn’t been totalitarian, it is analogous to somebody having a screen over their window to keep bugs out and somebody saying you don’t need the screen because you don’t have any bugs in your house. There are no bugs, partially because of the screen that doesn’t let them in.

Also, I could argue that disarming the native Americans didn’t end up great for them. Also, lets not forget the Japanese that were disarmed and rounded up and put in internment camps during ww2, by liberal champion, FDR. Thankfully, that didn’t turn into a massacre, but there is no telling what will happen when you are at the mercy of a powerful central govt.

People who say that it doesn’t matter if we have these types of firearms because the govt has drones, tanks, nukes, etc and could wipe us out if they really wanted to, are oblivious to what a bunch of insurgents have done in terms of halting the US military in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam.

All the effort, money and resources that are going into this mission to ban “assault weapons” is a total waste of money. Rifles were used in 4% of firearms homicides. Of that 4%, roughly 8% are assault rifles. This whole debate is over a class of firearms that accounts for .003% of firearms homicides…

If they genuinely believed that banning guns would stop crimes, why aren’t they going after the class of firearms that was used in 72% of firearms homicides? (Handguns)

This is death by 1,000 paper cuts. They are trying to take down the 2nd amendment, 1 slash at a time. They are trying to divide different types of firearms owners so there isn’t a united opposition. They want hunters and handgun owners to abandon the people who own “assault weapons”…

Banning guns may reduce firearms homicides, it may not. Criminals will still have them, and if psychotic people can’t get them, they will just think of some other way to murder unarmed people who don’t have the right to defend themselves.

Perhaps there will be fewer mass shootings with firearms, but that would be counterbalanced with an uptick of mass bombings, etc. In fact there would probably be more mass murders if these bans came through. And that is me making one assumption. Will people comply with an unconstitutional infringement on the 2nd amendment?

This is very important IMO

Over the last few weeks gun stores everywhere have sold out entirely of All types of “assault weapons” (ar15s, ak47s, ak74s, FALs, FN Scars, m1a’s, the list goes on), almost all semi auto rifles, shotguns, handguns… even firearms that wouldn’t be affected by a ban are being sold out. Magazines have sold out entirely, and are getting snapped up once more hit the shelves. One large firearms website sold 3.5 years worth of ar15 magazines in 72 hours and still has massive back orders with no end in sight… Go to your gun store or Walmart. Odds are the ammo shelves are completely empty. If you manage to see any 223, 9mm, 7.62x39, or 308 it will probably be sold within 10 minutes.

And let’s not forget that these record sales are occurring even with higher prices. This is the one sector of the economy Obama has actually stimulated.

Ar15s that were once $800 are now going for $2,000 easily on gun auction websites. Mine is worth $2,600 in this current market. The same type of magazines that I paid $12 for a few months ago are now having bidding wars and are going as high as $50. (I’m not selling them). Ive seen Ammo that used to cost $.32 per round go for $1.50 per round. Do the math… I have seen with my own eyes, 1,000 rounds that used to be $360 is going for $1590.

This isn’t on the news, you won’t hear about it unless you actually go to a gun store or gun website and see… All around you, Americans are arming themselves like they have never done before in history, and it’s not even a close comparison…

There are conversations taking place all over America. They are not being screamed from the mountain tops, they are being whispered from one end of the nation to the other. I would normally say this is all wishful thinking and tinfoil hat crap, except I’ve seen evidence of this with my own eyes. Kind of unnerving seeng how many, and who is doing this kind of talking. Ordinary people not the militia types. ( I live In a county that went for Obama in the 08 election)

And something tells me, Millions of Americans didn’t head out in the past month to buy $3000 AR-15s, millions of magazines and clear out every shelf in every store of every cartridge because they plan on handing them in.

I love that ad.

If we had term limits for congress, maybe our side would start talking the truth like this, too, since they wouldn’t care about the next election.

Here is a story with video that explains a lot about causes of cultural decline in America

‘Everything in Our Society Is Fake’: Beck Takes on the Entitlement Generation | Video | TheBlaze.com

I think it’s mostly correct about mid-level causes:

 1. Artificial "self esteem building.
 2. Celeb culture, cult following…pretty much humanism.
 3. rise of social media- I personally think there is a world of difference between a site like babypips and facebook. Babypips is mutually beneficial, mostly since it is educational, collaborative. (some people treat is like facebook). Facebook is mostly people telling everybody else about themselves, very self centered.
 4. Credit—we all were just talking about this a few posts ago—debt society because people think they “have a right” to have it now!! (and screw the debt collectors)

I think, again, these are midlevel causes, very close to the level of the symptoms they create.

I think the root cause is their previous generation’s forsaking traditional unselfishness and becoming overly-self indulgent themselves, and then passing it on to the current generation (really about 3 generations, since the 1960s or so). They lost what it means to have relationships with other people and be interested in others and helping them.

Now it’s really big me and really little you, and you ought to listen to ME and how great I am…blah blah blah…and BTW you owe me everything you got, because I’m the most important around here…(sounds like that ad that was just posted???)

I think things like television and the Internet are to blame also. Things that used to be frowned upon in society are now made mainstream and more people jump on the bandwagon. Idk about everyone else but it seems to me like its cool to be different and original. So everybody is trying to do it. Before your difference couldn’t get out into the world really now it’s so easy and other people see it and think you know that’s me. People like attention.

When I was a boy, my dad would tell me how if someone did something as outrageous as they do regularly today, in his time, people just wouldn’t put up with it. For instance, if a kid yelled at his mom in a grocery store, the clerk would reach across the counter and box the kid, telling him to respect his mother. Sex was taboo. Marriage was sacred. I’m talking about the majority of society back then, now minority. Rock and roll was viewed as radical. So many things, that are being erased…I can’t even remember them all.

Now they talk regularly not only about sex but about porn and all those fetishes. I have a hard enough time just getting girls to lay down on their back I couldn’t imagine “hey can you whip me?”

Mastergunner99 is that a joke like you would tell :-D?

Ah, Glenn Beck. I’d rather trust my money with the IMF!!!

Here is what our fearless TX Governor said about Obama’s gun control ideas:

“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.
“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”

I couldn’t say it better myself.

Wow. More reasons to move to Texas

Normally don’t care too much for Rick Perry, but that was pretty good.

States need their rights back. Talk about out of touch. So why impose broad laws that cover every state? CA and NYare almost different countries compared to MO.

So, in order to protect “freedom”, we must censor books and movies, abolish secularism and live under a Saudi-style theocracy? Religion recently killed a dozen hostages in an Algerian oil field.

Seems kind of weird you just lump all religion into one.

What religion were they following that didn’t preach peace? Were they radicals, religious nutjobs?
