Georgia Republican shifts support to Harris after backing Biden
Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) will be supporting Vice President Harris in November after previously saying he would back President Biden.
Duncan endorsed Harris in an interview on The Atlanta Journal-Constitutionâs âPolitically Georgiaâ podcast that aired Wednesday. He has been a staunch critic of former President Trump and revealed in May that he would be supporting Biden instead of the former president for the White House.
He was asked on the podcast whether he has or will be endorsing Harris. He said after Bidenâs poor showing at the debate last month, he thought the Democratic Party would do the âright thingâ and have Biden step aside and âlet somebody else step up.â
âAnd so that obviously looks to be Vice President Harris, and look, if sheâs the nominee, yeah, letâs do this,â he said on the podcast. âLetâs beat Donald Trump the best possible way we can. If that takes me endorsing her, if that takes me voting for her, if that takes me speaking at a convention, so be it.â

As Trump unloads on Harris, even his supporters see her gaining ground
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina â Even Donald Trumpâs supporters sense he suddenly has a tougher race on his hands.
As the former president unloaded on Kamala Harris in the swing state of North Carolina on Wednesday -â calling her a âradical, left lunaticâ at one point â faithful fans conceded that what had been a sleepy contest had abruptly become something quite different.
To some, it seemed like the vice president had momentum.
âPolicy aside and everything, she definitely has the energy,â said Jessica Castillo, a self-described centrist from Charlotte who voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020 and was at the Charlotte event. âShe is going to be a contender for Trump. Honestly, I think sheâll be more of a challenge.â
Taking the stage at the Bojangles Coliseum, his first rally since President Joe Biden dropped out of the campaign, Trump ripped into the vice president, casting her as âLying Kamala Harris,â mispronouncing her name as he dubbed her âthe most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history,â and repeatedly declaring that she would âdestroyâ the United States, if elected.
Trump has some reason for concern. Harris, after being endorsed by Biden to run at the top of the Democratic ticket, in recent days has seen a bump in polling compared to Bidenâs lagging performance, including among independents, people of color and women, among other critical voting blocs.
âNow,â said Bryson Davis, an 18-year-old from Statesville, âheâs running against somebody thatâs competent. âKamala is probably going to come off a little more fiery than Joe would.â
Or as Castillo put it, âThe fact she isnât suffering from old age ⌠itâs definitely going to give her a huge bump right away. She can talk. She can laugh, obviously.â

The FBI found Crooksâ second cell phone at his home with only 27 contacts, The Daily Mail reported.
