I saw this thread on this other forum, and saw some really sick workstations some guys had, thought it would be nice to see what babypips users have, specially the honorary members of the FX Men, like Big Pippin, I wonder what these guys have setup.
Anyway this is mine, I’m still crawling and playing with demo accounts, so My old laptop sitting on my bed works just fine for now. Hope to get some 20 inch monitors some days and have all my graphs displayed all together.
You have a better set up than me, I use my IPAD, and my platform is tradeinterceptor. I trade only daily and weekly pivots with EUR/JPY and GBP/JPY and their pivots fit my system.
I use my iphone as well, (not included in the pic since i used it to take it).
Tradeinterceptor looks good, I used mt4 in my iphone. I don’t like it. Just use it to close opened trades.
I tried trading with 3 20" monitors, but it doesn’t really seem necessary (there are some people that swear by it) you can only look at one thing at a time anyway… Maybe just a little extra effort for clicking between multiple time frame analysis instead of just looking. If you are a beginner, id say put that extra $800 (200 per monitor and 200 for a gfx card that supports 3+) into your live account and just use one screen.
I agree with you, more or less, i manage to get some pips a day with nothing but my old laptop and im pretty sure i could keep on doing it this way, im relatively new and still on demo, (i did made the typical newbie mistake of going live thinking demo is not necessary at all, and lost it all so i decided to stick with demo until i feel confident), but at a certain point i’ve been in need of lookong at other time frames aswell as other majors, and ive also felt the need to have the order screen ready to get in the trend.
That plus news and well, i guess its a matter of comfort but eventually you get used to it and it might make it alot easier
I myself am looking forward to that mainly for, well show off i guess but more for me i mean its does make a lot of difference to watch a laptop than several monitors, i mean i’d guess it could make you a bit more secure or business oriented, or just plain knowing you bought that from hard earned forex money and not your pocket money, could make you feel like your’re going the right direction. I guess then it does play on a psychological level.
I call it Leviathan. Dual screens
Gtx 560 (upgrading soon to a 660 or 670 )
Amd fx-6300 processor
16 gig ram
Ssd drive for os
4 tab (2x 2tb drives) for media virtual machines
Windows 7 os but I run two Debian virtual machines, one with a SQL database for ticks and my trades and one running R for my statistical analysis. Have a third Debian VM to experiment with hadoop for cluster computing among other things.
And all for under $1400 . . . . the wonders of self built computers
Holy macaroni. That looks cool, how many fps would you expect from that machine on crysis 3 or COD?
man I wish I had that setup. Awesome, How many pips a day get you that setup ?
I like to keep it simple. iPad running Forex Trader by Forex.com. Handy since I am at work all day and on the road. Nice to do a little scalping during dull meetings.
Sadly not as much as you’d expect. Video card kinda sucks but when I upgrade to a hopefully gtx 670 I should be able to run crysis 3 and battlefield(what I mainly play) at pretty insane settings.
On the pips front I have to say it’s a lot better than the fps front. According to myfxbook I get on average 10 pips a day. Though I don’t trade everyday usually only Mon-wednesday and I really only put three or four trades a week. I have an oddball trading style I think.
I actually sort of do that too. But I use a nexus 7 tablet for right when I wake up to check my trades
I do the same except with my iphone. It’s really handy when your not in. I don’t really put trades in my iphone though, it’s mainly just to keep track of any open trades. Sadly I had to sell my ipad few months back, but i’ve been looking forward to get tablet, not sure if I’ll go with ipad though, and that’s one of my goals, purchase it with money I’ve earned trading forex
how would you rate the nexus? I’ll be buying a tablet hopefully in some months time, and I’m not sure if I should go apple, or samsung. I’ve had them both before but never a nexus, why did you chose nexus, does it lag?
10 pips a day few days a week is way better than ending in negative, I’ve blown up a couple of accounts, due to inexperience, and thinking I was ready to go live.
Looking forward to that too. Wish i could have a setup with some 4 screens. I guess it would make me feel a bit more professional, and keep me motivated. Specially if I buy it with forex earned money
I only have one monitor and don’t have many chart open at one time. My OS (Linux) allows multiple desktops so just switch between desktops since I can’t look at one monitor at a time anyway. Switching desktops is just as fast as looking from one monitor to another (if I had more than one).
