Political Opinion

Maybe the last time I tried to post this I might have been a little harsh as I guess babypips instantly deleted my post lol

Sman take a look at this when you say we make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Thats exactly what your hero has done. Due to Obamacare people will make less and pay more.

Health Law Spurs Shift in Hours - Yahoo! Finance

Since we will now be required to buy insurance whats to stop the insurance from skyrocketing the price of insurance? Supply and demand well demand is about to go through the roof what affect on the price of insurance do you think this will have. Congrats your buddy just made the super rich richer and well everyone else poorer.

lol I see it was not deleted I posted it in the wrong thread well I deleted it now.

Haha, that is one of the funniest things I have read on here.

Yep Wellpoint and United Health have already begun to buy up the smaller insurance companies.

So forced to buy insurance and less competition = higher prices

This was all mentioned to him, but I don’t think he read any of it.

You believe that is still in effect?

I think that’s a great idea, comrade!
And once we’re at it, let’s work out a Five-Year-Plan for the US Economy … and replace that bothersome Lincoln Statue with one of our hero, Lenin.
After all, history has clearly shown that communism is the superior system, right?

Good God above, man, read a book … preferably one without pictures and superheroes.

I thought that by now even the … ummm … slowest thinkers (to employ a polite term) would have noticed that communism / socialistic capitalism does not work.

Hasn’t worked, doesn’t work, will never work.

Why should people who have bothered working hard for their lifestyle finance those who have decided that it’s way more comfortable to let others pay for them?

The world doesn’t owe you crap, dude.
Having been born doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to free lunch from cradle to grave.

I fully agree with your opinions, but I have to point out something - China is currently doing what no other communist state has managed - getting wealthy and maintaining a dictatorship - will be very interesting to see what the future of China holds.

My belief is that there will sooner or later be a revolution for democracy, peaceful or not who knows. But, the interesting part is that we cannot rule out the strange possibility yet that China could prove to be the successful evolution of communism into something that, unlike every attempt in the past, could work. Then again, the way China seems to be developing now it looks more like it’s going to become a fascist state rather than a market economy communist state.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds.

That’s a tough one. When can you say China is no longer communist? I think of China as wrapped in a capitalist shell. A lot of our tax dollars go to China. Maybe I’m wrong, not entirely sure.

Democracy doesn’t work, our forefathers knew this.

The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.
-John Quincy Adams

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
-Benjamin Franklin

Democracy was the right of the people to choose their own tyrant.
- James Madison

Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.
- John Adams

Yeah, you’re right about China.

I’d rather say, though, that China is en route to becoming wealthy despite being under communist rule.
They way I see it is that they allow some entrepreneurs to act as if they lived in a free (i.e. capitalist) country without really making it public … probably some or most of them have understood that their system won’t work … but it’s the system that keeps the old guard in power.
Have your cake and eat it, too, sorta.

Tom Clancy’s novel ‘The Bear and the Dragon’ deals with this scenario in a rather credible (though fictional) fashion.

Maybe It’s like nitrous boost on a car.

We push that boost button and inject a lot of jobs overseas.

Once that nitrous is used up the economy will level off.

 …and on the flip side marijuana may be made legal in a few states, there is a vote on that today. That will increase the supply (attracting sellers) which will lower the cost to buy. Also, less money spent keeping people in jail…but more spent on junk food. :stuck_out_tongue:

good news, maybe I can be more relaxed trading. haha.

Remember, they’re trying to limit our junk food to. Can’t forget about the New York large soda ban

China… Good from far, far from good.

It’s an older article, but the problems are still relevant: Why China’s Debt Problems Are Worse Than America’s - The Daily Beast

This is why I don’t believe it makes much difference if you vote between Republican or Democrat, at least with regards to size of government. They both support Big Government. The only difference is what flavour of Big Government do you want - conservative or progressive?

[History of the US public debt

curious to see what that looks like in 2012

I think repressive is a better word.

i agree with you though. Doesn’t matter what flavor it is either, in the end it all has the same outcome. Crap.

To me it simply boils down to social policy, and the Republicans have struck me as being crack-pot extremist in many cases, like differentiating between “legitimate” (and “illegitimate”"???) rape, the whole birther movement, banning abortion etc etc etc. Very creepy.

What about Obama’s deal refusing treatment to babies who survived an abortion?

I really think partisan politics will be the issue that rips this country completely apart.

As long as there is a left, and a right, things will always be wrong.

A partisan voters job is easy. Don’t even have the know the name of the guy you’re voting for, just walk in, and vote for whoever is republican/democrat.

Then you get somebody from another country, who thinks republicans social policy is messed up when I can guarantee they haven’t looked at how messed up the other side is to.

With the exception of a few people on here, seems like every one I talk to from another country thanks Obama is the bees knees.

I wonder if they even know, that Obama extended the patriot act, signed the ndaa, and has a kill list. I wonder how many innocent people are killed by his drone strikes, which have increased since Bush.

If you want to see something even more morally questionable, look up Bill Clinton’s sanctions on Iraq that killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Both sides are screwed up

You’re preaching to the choir.

The same people back both sides. That way, they have a winner no matter who the charade in charge is. What’s that overused, but true Orwell quote?

Something like “In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.”

Hehe yeah, I had to look it up
"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act"
