I find that extremely hard to believe.
I’m going to guess it was because the media sources of the pics were not entirely trusted so it was possible they related to another place, another time, another operation going on. Maybe the fear was the pictures were not part of the story, although these stories have been widely reported in the media and are not fake news. Maybe we’ll find out one day…

I don’t think Trump has divided the US, it was already divided between the two major parties and always has been. So what changed?
Firstly the Democrats moved further left than ever in their history that I can recall.
Secondly, Trump motivated middle-America to actually go out and get interested in politics and vote for him to oppose socialism. He was right to do this, even if he exaggerated the threat.
