For 300k, I’ll go find my own island. Detroit/Michigan weather sucks.

$300k to live near Detroit no thank you

I agree-it’s location, location, location…
now, if somebody did this for an island in the bahamas…

If anyone wants to get involved with protecting our second amendment (USA) then here is a website. I wholeheartedly believe in this movement!

Remember the 2nd amendment protects the first (and all others for that matter)

Libertarians advocate that individuals have rights over their own bodies, like any other property. Just as a blood transfusion patient cannot draw blood from me without my consent, a foetus cannot draw blood (and “stuff”) from me without my consent. The fact that both parties die when I refuse consent is immaterial. I have property rights over my own body. At least, that is my understanding of the libertarian argument.

My view of the libertarian side, which I mostly agree with, is that baby is their own individual, with their own blood (don’t you know their blood doesn’t mix with the mother’s? Nutrition and waste is exchanged through the placenta attachment). So, as individuals, they have a right to life, like anybody else. This idea that a baby isn’t their own is disgusting.
Everytime you try to defend abortion, just think what if your mom had decided that for you? When did you become an individual, with God-given, unalienable rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness? So, if you have property rights over your own body, so do they (the unborn), and mother’s are charged with protection of that life. See? That’s where it gets really hard to get away from a Creator…and certain responsibilities. Consequences, are by definition, just a product of reaction to an action, and they can be good or bad, and sadly, some good consequences are viewed as bad.

So babies have property rights over their body. So does the mom. The baby is killing the mom. The mom has the right to protect herself.

Forcing somebody to give up their own life for another goes against a persons right to life.

Why raising taxes is dishonest at this time…

Remember Obama’s tax hikes on the rich to pay debt? He’s already spent every penny by Andrew Malcolm - Investors.com

Edit: Oh, wait…look here:
Perry proposes amending Texas Constitution to allow state to return excess taxes | Fox News

and BTW, the hurricane victims are still without power, and are having a hard time staying warm…if I were there, I wouldn’t be now…I would have moved away. Gov’t can’t fix…period

There is more revenue coming in now than there was when Clinton was in office. And the US was sitting at a surplus. Spending is our issue and taxes can’t fix that.

What get’s me going is they are taxing with the unmentioned intent to sack the successful. To discourage people who want to move from poor or middle class to wealth. They lie that it’s for more revenue, but they want to just be a (you fill in the blank here with whatever makes you really really mad) to bash income earners, and discourage those, like me, who want to increase wealth.

I’m not arguing against the idea that a foetus has a right to life. However, that right to life should not deprive rights from another person, in this case the mother’s property rights over her own sovereign body. If you can justify the deprivation of rights to save lives, then you are arguing in support of taxes, public health care, gun control, socialism etc.

They’re not just sacking the successful. People like me who are middle class, do have investments. When we try to make something of ourselves, by trading or investing, we get hit with the taxes to.

They’re not just screwing over the big guys. They’re holding the others back.

I wholeheartedly agree…you don’t have to be wealthy to START becoming successful, and their evil intention is to “nip it in the bud”.

And whenever they say the “top 2% need to pay more”, that means when the tax hikes come, everybody pays them, by paying more for all the products and things we buy because those taxes just get rolled into them. Any tax on producers is a tax on everybody, just think when you buy a pair of shoes, how much of the cost of making those is attributed to taxes that the manufacturer, shipper, and seller (retailer) is passing on to you, so they can stay in “the black”. We all get taxed multiple times over, if you think about it.

What would be best, and will not ever actually happen, is a flat national sales tax that is very, very low, and that’s it. No other income to Feds, period. No corporate, no property, no income, no interest, no other taxes besides one flat national sales tax for the Feds. States can do whatever they want, that’s their constitutional right, and if NY wants to tax 60-70% on their people, fine…people can move somewhere else, like Texas, if they want, and escape.

Then the Feds can get back to doing what the Constitution mandates, strong national defense, including borders, and promoting strong interstate commerce, which they can do just by getting out of the way, now, and make sure there is peace between the states, keep a national currency, but using gold standard, and mandating the only role of the central bank to keep a strong dollar. No stupid national regs, leave that to the states, per the 10th amendment.

The explosion of wealth would be just unbelievable.

But, it’s not going to happen, instead, look at this article, and read the reader’s comments below it:

I don’t know much about Senator Ted Cruz other than he is Republican but I watched his testimony at the gun control hearings at capital hill. He is brilliant and well spoken I think he would make a great candidate for our highest office.

I second the motion…he’s great.

Logic and reason from a Senator? Inconceivable.

Not sure if you guys heard the news today. Makes you realize how thankful we should be for the TSA.

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator. At a morning press conference, Attorney General Eric Holder said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement.
He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

‘Al-Gebra is a problem for us’, the Attorney General said. ‘They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometime go off on tangents in search of absolute values.’ They use secret code names like “X” and “Y” and refer to themselves as “unknowns” but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, “There are 3 sides to every triangle.”

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes.” White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that another Nobel Prize will follow.

Haha, that’s cute.

You guys MUST watch this video. Disturbing is an understatement!

So, a very good SuperBowl game is over…
how many of you think that big parts of football, like tackling, and kickoff returns (special teams), will go away?
And if so, how long until those are taken away?
Obama is making a pretty big push, along with others, to have the league get rid of tackling because of risk of concussions.
And there were plenty of ads during the game that alluded to this as “evolution”…don’t you think this is a bunch of libs trying to control another aspect of society, a rather successful (ironic coicidence?) part, too. (It’s always the successful that get targeted).
