The “sides” see themselves as defenders of democracy and state The sides believe that peace, development and cooperation lie at the core of the modern international system
The joint statement mentions Taiwan by name but not Ukraine - less than 3 weeks later Russia invades Ukraine.
China right now vehemently deny prior knowledge of the invasion and the other side of the coin likewise vehemently denied any intention to invade - has Xi decided to stall his hand on Taiwan for 2 reasons, first and foremost to gauge US reaction, what resources and manpower must they commit and secondly how exactly does Russia fare in it’s attack.
