the people do there but the manufactures seem to be taking care of their employees, from what I can tell. Relatively, of course.
One thing about DeSantis is he put pen to paper, he doesnāt talk about it but he takes actions, I donāt know if that would work in Congress, but it worked in his state, we will see how his actions take shape in the future. If you do not agree with all of his policies, you have to give him credit for being more than a talker.
DeSantis signs bill banning funding for college diversity programs
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Monday banning state funding for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at Floridaās public universities, staging the event at New College of Florida, which the governor has transformed into a conservative higher education experiment.
A New College board revamped by DeSantis abolished the schoolās DEI office, and the collegeās interim president recently fired the diversity dean, a precursor to what other Florida universities could experience under SB 266, which was a centerpiece of DeSantisā aggressive legislative agenda this year.

In the interests of clarity the above statement concludes with:
The historic sums are helping a broad set of Ukrainian people and institutions, including refugees, law enforcement, and independent radio broadcasters, though most of the aid has been military-related. Dozens of other countries, including most members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, are also providing large aid packages to Ukraine.
You can get different approaches to budgets from different politicians in America; last year around this time, you had politicians from both parties talking about the miliary budget and how it can be reduced and what to cut.
U.S. Republicans want higher defense spending, citing Ukraine and China
WASHINGTON, March 23 (Reuters) - A group of 40 U.S. Republican members of the Senate and House of Representatives Armed Services Committees urged President Joe Biden to include a 5% increase above inflation for defense spending in his proposal for the fiscal 2023 U.S. budget.
Biden is expected to announce his budget next week.
āAs you prepare your fiscal year 2023 budget for submission to Congress, we strongly encourage you to reject the approach you took last year when you proposed to cut defense spending below the rate of inflation,ā the lawmakers wrote in the letter, made public on Wednesday.
In his first year in office, Biden submitted a budget keeping Department of Defense spending basically flat, as he and many of his fellow Democrats sought to rein in the Department of Defense budget, which has risen to more than $750 billion. read more

Bidenās first budget fuels health, education spending in sharp change from Trump
WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden asked Congress to sharply hike spending on climate change, cancer and underperforming schools, but his first budget wishlist on Friday drew howls of bipartisan concern over military spending.
The $1.5 trillion budget, reflecting an 8% increase in base funding from this year, marks a sharp contrast with the goals of Bidenās predecessor, Donald Trump.
It would spread billions of dollars more across areas ranging from public transit, poor schools, toxic site clean-ups, foreign aid and background checks on gun sales, but spend nothing on border walls.
he budget āmakes things fairer,ā said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
Yet the proposal was greeted by bipartisan scorn over its suggested funding for the Department of Defense, roughly even on an inflation-adjusted basis at $715 billion. The administration also cut an āOverseas Contingency Operationsā account that even government bureaucrats said had come to serve as a slush fund for extra military spending.
Bidenās request displeased both liberals hoping to impose cuts and hawks who want military spending to increase to deal with threats from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea - a reminder of the uphill battle Biden faces in delivering the policies he promised as a candidate beyond the COVID-19 emergency.

Five top Senate Republicans including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell issued a joint statement warning that the Biden plan sent āa terrible messageā to U.S. allies and adversaries and called into question the administrationās willingness to confront China.
āWe canāt afford to fail in our constitutional responsibility to provide for the common defense,ā wrote lawmakers including top Republicans on critical Senate committees involved in the budget-making process.
The U.S. allocates nearly half its discretionary budget to military and defense, and has long outspent any other country.
Jimmy interviews Dan McKnight the chairman of a group called Bring Our Troops Home,
I support this groupās work and their efforts to rein in the Military Industrial Complex and end the Washington culture of forever wars. It is interesting how this group has supporters among Republican lawmakers, but not one Democrat will join them in calling for an end to these for-profit wars
I am sorry this does not justify the destruction of Ukraine, this is another for profit war orchestrated by the US, It is just another page of Washingtonās āforever warā policy
Enough is enough

DEMOCRATS WHO JOINED REPUBLICANS TO INCREASE MILITARY BUDGET HAVE STRONG DEFENSE TIES
JUST TWO DAYS after the U.S. ended its 20-year war in Afghanistan, more than a dozen Democrats with strong ties to the military establishment defied President Joe Biden and voted to add nearly $24 billion to the defense budget for fiscal year 2022.
On Wednesday, 14 Democrats joined 28 Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee to adopt an amendment from Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., to the fiscal year 2022 defense authorization bill that would boost Bidenās $715 billion spending proposal to $738.9 billion. The move follows the Senate Armed Services Committeeās vote to similarly raise the top line to more than $740 billion in its July markup of the bill.
The 14 House Democrats to support the defense spending were Reps. Jim Langevin of Rhode Island; Joe Courtney of Connecticut; Jared Golden of Maine; Elaine Luria of Virginia; Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey; Stephanie Murphy of Florida; Anthony Brown of Maryland; Filemon Vela of Texas; Seth Moulton of Massachusetts; Salud Carbajal of California; Elissa Slotkin of Michigan; Kai Kahele of Hawaii; Marc Veasey of Texas; and Steven Horsford of Nevada.

Armed Services panel finalizes roster with three new GOP senators
WASHINGTON ā Senate Republicans on Wednesday announced their slate of committee assignments, placing three new members on the Armed Services Committee. The committee will consist of 13 Democrats and 12 Republicans, though the Democratic roster remains unchanged.
The Republican leader on the committee has set an ambitious goal for military spending. Wicker has previously said he would like defense spending at 5% of gross domestic product ā amounting to approximately $1.3 trillion.
That sort of massive increase is unlikely to come to fruition with Democrats in control of the Senate and House Republican leaders agreeing to $130 billion in overall spending cuts for the fiscal 2024 budget.
Having said that, different party members on both sides want different things, both parties pulling the president in many directions, and both parties fighting over what compromises to make and what to stand firm on, we will see how it turns out.
Iām looking forward to seeing whatās in the final bill.
Last night Kyiv came under a barrage of missile attacks - from BBCās Hugo Bachega in Kyiv:
Serhiy Popko, head of the Ukrainian capitalās military administration, described the barrage as being the āmaximum number of attack missiles in the shortest period of timeā.
āAccording to preliminary information, the vast majority of enemy targets in the airspace of Kyiv were detected and destroyed,ā he added.
Kyiv resident Kseniia told BBC Radio 4ās Today programme that she and her husband were asleep when they heard a āseries of very loud explosionsā above their building. She compared the intensity of the attack to a Star Wars film or an action video game.
She also said that thanks to the support of its international allies, Ukraine is now capable of tracking down and destroying high calibre missiles.
"Itās such a relief to know Kyiv is under such a strong defence right now".
Military aid comes in many guises - some of which can save lives.

Republicans have always been for a strong defense, this is nothing new and hardly newsworthy. But what has changed is the Democrat party, they were the party of cutting defense spending, but now they are in a bidding war with the Republicans on who will raise defense spending the most. Why the change, that would be a news story and one not likely to be seen.
How about giving Seniors a 5% increase over inflation on our Social Security benefits, That would do far more for the health of the economy than further enriching Boeing and Lockheed Martin
How about we start putting Americans first
