Political Opinion

I made this point back when they first said Germany would furnish Leopard tanks, Who is going to man, and command them, it takes months to get a tank crew combat ready, and years to command a tank company. Then you go out with no air cover, that is messed up, Tanks are no match to a modern attack helicopter.

It will be interesting to listen to the different spins put out by both sides, it is like they are talking about two different wars

I’m a believer. Seems to be the govt is talking about this more, recently. Is there something to it, I don’t know. Could be what you said, distraction.

Social Security and Medicare can only be fixed by making every politician in this country receive the exact program that the rest of us get without any other benefits. Is Politicians ruining the program for social security?

Major cuts to Social Security are back on the table-- what’s being proposed now?

While most Democrats want to boost Social Security through higher payroll taxes or reductions to benefits for wealthy Americans, the GOP has largely focused on paring down or privatizing the program.

A group of Republican lawmakers aims to balance the federal budget and slash government spending by targeting programs like Social Security — and some seniors could see a major reduction in lifetime benefits if the plan makes it into law.

The proposal was unveiled June 14 by U.S. House conservatives, Bloomberg reported. One of its main features is to raise the full retirement age (FRA) at which seniors are entitled to the full benefits they are due.

The 176-member House Republican Study Committee (RSC) approved a fiscal blueprint that would gradually increase the FRA to 69-years-old for seniors who turn 62 in 2033. The current full retirement age is 66 or 67, depending on your birth year. For all Americans born in 1960 or later, the FRA is 67.

As Bloomberg noted, workers expecting an earlier retirement benefit will see lifetime payouts reduced if the full retirement age is raised. Those payouts could be drastically reduced for seniors who claim benefits at age 62, when you are first eligible.

Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle have been working to come up with a fix for Social Security before the program’s Old Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund runs out of money. That could happen within the next decade or so. When it does, Social Security will be solely reliant on payroll taxes for funding — and those taxes only cover about 77% of current benefits.

For Biden’s sake, he should keep out of sight, another year and Biden will be gone

When a president gets into office, they usually have 3 to 5 agendas and they need to fight like hell with congress to get them passed; otherwise, they sign legislation that congress sends them or roll back previous administration laws which are put forward by their party in congress.

In the absence of Biden, America will be fine

In the absence of congress, America would be even better

but why stop there, a one year vacation for congress, the white house, Supreme Court, and the Federal Reserve would be the best thing for America

I agree, but we need people or something to run the country :eyes:

Do we? biden has shown just how needless a president can be, Congress is only in session about 150 days a year and the country keeps going during those other 213 days. Washington does very little for the average American so there is little to be missed if they just took an extended vacation

Dennis, I agree with you to a certain extent, congress has passed laws with the help of a president that have created the America that we know today, whether it’s good or bad, without congress, where would America be?

Better off

Congress no longer serves the American people, they serve only the special interest that put them and keep them in office. Give congress a year off and no one will notice

Democracy is not perfect - it’s not even near perfect, yet what is the alternative?

Give it a year off - here in NI we have given democracy a year and half off - my local hospital has lost it’s stroke unit, coming into winter they will switch off the street lights - nobody accountable.

NK has an alternative, as does China, and to a lesser extent Russia, although getting there - autocratic rule - there are lots of voting and nice to see, Xi got voted in - and Hu Jintao got escorted out.

I am sure Northern Ireland has its issues just like everyone else,

As I have pointed out before, the US is not a democracy, it is a representative republic the problem is the representatives we vote for and send to Washington, no longer represent the interest of the people. They represent first the party, then the special interest.

We seem to be following the path of the Roman Empire, Wide spread military actions, political corruption, high taxes and out of control inflation is leading to the death of the American middle class. Some here talk about a need for a revolution, I don’t see that happening, but if something does not change soon, our future can be seen in novels such as “Brave New World”, “1984” and Hunger Games

I am in my 60’s and the country might hold together for the rest of my life, but what world will my grand kids inherit

The future is not looking good

Agreed and that is the fundamental problem with a “democratic” system which has “political Parties” - we only get the choice to vote for people who are already preselected according to the underlying biases and prejudices of the “selection comittee” - and nothing good was ever designed by any “Comittee” !

edit - at least that’s how it works in uk - YMMV !

It’s over mate ! - At least the “west” as we understand it - is over !

What we do know is that All civilisations end after around 300 years - at least all “democratic” ones do - because those who are parasitic on the producers in one way or another learn that they can simply vote for free stuff for themselves and bigger beaurocracies to administer the huge volumes of Regulations they love so much.

In the whole of the Western world “the Parasite” is already bigger than the Dog - and those who would otherwise become producers have the foresight to opt-out. Sit in their mother’s basement and just play computer games - what the hell is the point of any of them working to better themselves (and hence Society) when they have no hope of raising a family or being promoted according to their ability and competence ?

A single man does not need much money to live on - so when you take away their hope - why should they bother themselves to be productive ?

Nah - They are telling the “diverse” and the “woke” - “mend your own Power Stations - Build Your own Houses - Build your own Bridges - Design your own submersibles” ! "If I can walk into a shop and take $1000 of goods without it being “stealing” - why the hell should I work ?

Who is John Galt ?

There are a lot more parallels than that @Dennis3450 - Watch that Stefan Molyneux video on the fall of the Roman Empire !

See what I mean ? The Dog has not enough blood left to support the parasite ! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @Falstaff A great analogy… The US will keep raising the Debt Ceiling until at some point it becomes a runaway train… And at this point… The bleeding will stop…The Dog will die

And it’ll be no longer mathematically possible to service it’s loans…

In Australia a similar problem is developing… They just keep raising taxes and the cost of living in an attempt to send the middle class spiralling back down the ladder and into a dependant and controllable poverty…

It’s going to get to a point that there is nowhere to hide… Property, Stocks, Bank accounts… Are all going to be too dangerous to invest this generations hard earned wealth…

Which is the elite’s dystopian plan…

And as you rightly state, in this cycle of global leadership… We don’t have real politician’s to steer the West through the worsening seas… Just a collective of Marionette Leaders that dance to every tune played by the unelected cabal driving the WEF…

Tunes such as the recent Global Finance, Health, Climate and Education Directives…

The Third world will be the winner out of this… They are just too impoverished, too chaotic to care for any of this Global nonsense… While we, the supposadly smarter West, slowly wither away…
