N. Korea has been starving their own people since the Korean War, more than 50 years ago! It has nothing to do with sanctions, which are only recent. Heâs a communist dictator. What little economy they have comes from drugs and China. It is literally a black spot on the map:
Some people make me wish the shoe was on the other foot. Only then theyâd see the wrong doings.
My buddyâs wife is from Serbia. She was bombed near her house. She didnât do anything wrong. Now whenever they do the siren test for tornadoâs here she freaks out.
Edit: Guess I should clarify. It reminds her of air raid siren.

BeautifulâŚIs the âBlazeâ like The Onion but for conservatives? Took me 5 minutes in this state to realize something is very wrong with that article. :35:
We imposed severe sanctions on them. The sanctions cost the lives of many people in Iraq. Thatâs a fact. And for what?
Why did they die? Because Saddam was evil and it was necessary for us to kick him out?
Apparently our government didnât think he was that evil when we were giving him money, weapons, intelligence and training after he invaded Iran. We were even buddies with him while he gassed the kurds.
He only became a problem to us when he invaded Kuwait.
And only became evil to us when he started selling oil in Euros instead of exclusively in Dollars.
Our foreign policy is incredibly asinine and expensive.

So whatâs your take on North Korea? Are we responsible for the North Koreans dying of hunger?
Itâs an area that is notoriously arid and mountainous, which makes it hard for agriculture. Not to mention that it is a full on totalitarian, socialist state. A system of governance which is good at creating famine, due to economic distortions.
Iraq was in a similar situation. These countries are very reliant on food imports.

So is that a yes?
So the world should supply food⌠for free?
No, we closed trade.
[QUOTE=âwigglez;487583â]

Yeh⌠Because they are killing their citizens and threatening other countries. Lol no one is required to trade with a country⌠And countryâs that decide not to are not responsible for providing for their citizens.
For a reason. Do you know what one of North Koreaâs biggest export are?
Fruit, the country produces a large amount of fruit that goes to China. Unfortunately 95% of this fruit is for export only and not for domestic consumption.
The U.Sâs trade sanctions have been in force with Nth Korea for a long time actually but recently they have become more robust given the amount of chest pumping that has been going on since Kim Jun Un came into power. Previously it was only high end goods that were not allowed into North Korea.
Nothing pisses me off more than hearing people argue for North Korea. The countryâs human rights record is atrocious and its leaders only care about maintaining its current level of power. Without its nuclear weapons capability <laughs> and more importantly its support from China, that âcountryâ should have been squashed years ago and its people freed from the iron fist rule of the current âgovernmentâ.
What North Korea does is none of our concern. The us has enough problems of its own

Lol so issuing direct threats of nuclear missle strikes on US cities is none of our concern?
So youâre suggesting the U.S lifts its trade sanctions? Hey North Korea has money rightâŚ

Not entirely. Iâm saying I donât think we should close down trade with any nation. I think itâs wrong.
We canât make people change their minds or want freedom. It simply doesnât work.
We have basically destroyed the Iranian Rial and now they are struggling. Does that make them like us? No. It probably makes them have more animosity towards us.
And you know that their government is blaming us for it and using it to garner support.
Free trade promotes freedom and friendship.
If the government quits setting up barriers against free trade, both sides benefit. Countries with strong trading and investment connections are far less likely to go to war with us.
Look at Vietnam. We were on pretty bad terms with them⌠We started trading and allowing investment in their country and now itâs like we never went to war against them.

Evil persists in the world because good men do nothingâŚ
Trade before World War II was extremely free between European countries⌠How did that go in promoting friendship?
Without sanctions⌠The only other step is direct military interventionâŚ
I guess that is a good way to prevent genocide. Kill all their peopleâŚ
Bully tactics work so well. Everybody loves the school yard bully.
The way China runs their government is none of our business. As far as I know, the people there are free to leave if they want. You do realize your views are imperialistic.
