I think that a lot of the issue is that the prevailing wind on here has shifted towards newer posters rather than those who have been around longer. It was a very busy site a few years ago, then I took some time away(from fora, not trading) then returned recently. It is notable that a lot of the more experienced posters have left, and that the new format makes it harder to identify those who remain. So we are left with an arena which seems more bitty, a bit more bland, and is more a collections of individual statements rather than a series of very active threads/discussions. Previously we would each tend to inhabit our own collection of threads, and largely tune out a lot of the noise. Now the classic threads have largely closed or become quiet, so a higher percentage of what remains is the newbie questions.
I think that the new format - much as I understand the reasons behind it - has moved away from appealing to experienced traders, at least that is my view and that of a few others former members I still deal with. As the newbies now form the active majority there is less established understanding of othersā styles, which in turn leads to more complaining and flagging.
It makes me a little sad, but perhaps fora are on their back foot at the moment.
Anyhow, fwiw even though I donāt know you I have followed many of your posts and am glad that you are sticking around.

Martin - Over the years i have read tons of stuff here on BP and it has been a huge resource of info!!! Your post probably has the the most important message in itā¦you have to learn to trade, like ANY other job/task, you have to learn - there is a huge misconception out there that you take a strategy (usually bought for $199) and go and make millionsā¦There is no need to leave - you are valued by the silent majority - but before you go, can you give me a rundown on what a PIP is again please

When someone tells me they have a dumb question to ask, I always tell them the only dumb question is the one you donāt ask.On the other hand, I am not a parrot and I donāt like repeating my self just to hear me speak. Look it up, do the research, then ask your question. I constantly use the glossary to find things I donāt know.( i have it book marked in my favorites) I have a suggestion.Under each name are balloons with post info. How about one that shows how far someone is in pipschool? then you would know if a newbie is serious or lazy. Also you can refer(or link) them to previous posts. I have not been here long enough to like or dislike anyone but I get lots of useful information from all. Even the dumb ones about pips. ( I looked it up). Martin_k Do what makes you happy. answer questions when you feel like and let the mods do their job and worry about the stupid stuff.

and i agree, explain to anyone what a pip is any day of the week,

I agree 100%. But donāt let the lazy ruin it for those who arenāt. My father always yelled at us " donāt be a moron, go look it up". I did, and I do. Others need to also. Then ask. Being that you have more experience and knowledge, please remember that what may be a repetitive question might just be a new newbie that has not seen that question asked before. Hence the referring someone to previous posts.

This post is unnecessary.
1. I understand your motive with this post. You are informing noobs to perform their own research, to be respectful, not to hate when a statement is not in their favor, and to stop trying to get hand fed by experienced traders. Experienced traders here are willing to help but will not cater to every single need/question.
All this should be obvious, and even I expect noobs to know thisā¦ but, as I stated before, these actions by noobs will continue; forever. Itās Internet Forums 101.
2. I read the whole original post before I made this reply. The points you make are repetitive in a rant fashion which is what was noticed when I scanned through it the first time.
Itās very negative and your statements often belittle āothersā which contributes to your post being unhelpful. I doubt moderators care for this post, but I donāt see anything that goes against the forum rules. It is bad enough for someone (like me) to āoffer adviseā.
3. You are descriptively and emotionally sensitive to what others say or do which is likely the reason you are expressing your irritation in a post for all to see instead of just the helpful content. Stuff like this causes a reaction that can do more harm than good.
I presume you may dispute this, but if you can makes assumptions on me and with all ānewbiesā, others (me) can too.
Thereās more, but Iāve given more than enough time to this reply than Iām willing to offer.
Final note
It is what it is mate!
That may sound cliche, but it fits. Provide the helpful content (or not); leave out the rant. Iāve given my explanation. I hope we can move past this. Iām not interested in a debate.
